ROSE We clean up from lunch and I decide to take a look at my new living space. I’m already familiar with the main areas. The apartment is an open concept, three-bedroom, three-bathroom unit. It is quite big, and I remember hearing that Patty had the entire unit renovated about 10 years ago. TYSON It just about breaks me to leave Rose. I can see it in her eyes that she wants me to stay the night, but she won’t ask, knowing I have to fix the fuck up that the media just reported. TYSON Just before lunch Melinda lets me know that Rose is getting checked out of the hospital and they’ll be heading to Patty’s. I was initially dreading her living with Patty, but we have set our differences aside for my girls. Insanely enough, I’m starting to like the crazy, gruff female. I can see a little of what my dad saw in her. I know her apartment atop the diner is the perfect place for Rose and Maddie. Dad and our construction company helped Patty renovate before he died so I know it is done well and done right. It is safe for my future family. I try to concentrate on all the work I need to do and all the work I didn’t do while Rose was in the hospital. ROSE I wake slowly and realize I am not in pain, and I’m surrounded by a blanket of warmth. I try to snuggle back into my heaven when I feel my blanket move. ROSE “I’m so sorry Rose, I’m so very sorry. Please forgive me.” Tyson says as he tucks me in with the sheet, effectively separating our bodies. ROSE When I come out of my room, I am smiling like a crazy drunk person. Tyson wants to date me. He wants an actual relationship! My brain just can’t quite wrap around that, but it makes me seriously happy. I emerge into the kitchen to find Tyson sitting at the island, drinking a mug of coffee with Maddie on the stool next to him. She is fully dressed and ready for breakfast. TYSON I wake up when I feel Rose shift in the bed. Once again, I remain still and let her check me out. I can practically feel her eyes roaming me and I realize I have always worn a shirt around her. She’s never seen my chest bare, and I know it’s one of the parts of me she likes best. She takes another deep inhale, and I can practically hear her contentment. I get a small whiff of her arousal as she moves her face toward my chest. Her raised nipples hit my skin and she gasps in surprise. I had a feeling that was going to happen and yes, I wanted it to. TYSON I leave the bedroom and see Maddie sitting at the island, reading a book with a glass of orange juice in front of her. It doesn’t look like she has taken even a sip of her juice, her eyes are huge and wide, completely focused on her book. Just as I get to her, she lets out an audible, “Nooooooo!” “Are you okay, Mads?” “Oh my gosh! I can’t believe the author killed off the King! Why would he do that? Now, the vampires will overrun the castle.” Her eyes are still wide and unfocused on her surroundings, she’s completely enthralled in her supernatural fiction. “Sorry honey. I guess the author might be aiming for a tragic ending.” “That’s the thing, Tyson. I’m only halfway through the book. It’s the first of a series of 6, so you might be right about it being tragic.” Maddie reconsiders my suggestion and then continues to tell me about the story as I pour myself a cup of coffee from the warm carafe.
