Rose looks up at me with tears in her eyes. She smiles. Shyly and small at first and then it grows to encompass her whole face. As the smile spreads, I can feel some of her worry slip away, but she continues on with her line of thinking. “It is a lot of responsibility, Tyson. She’s quite a handful. The school tuition alone is staggering, but then add in all the extra stuff. I understand most of what she needs because it is what I needed growing up but didn’t get. She is my world, and I will set everything aside for her, including us. She deserves to achieve her dreams and I intend to make that happen. I just want to vocalize everything, so we are on the same page, and you don’t feel like I’ve kept something, anything from you regarding Maddie.”

“I know she is your world and I’d never ask you to give her up or not provide all you could for her. I fully support you in anything needed regarding Maddie and her care. Hell, if I wasn’t already prepared to help you with that, I wouldn’
