Chapter One-One-Two: Smoke Out

If he is this good at lying, then how many of his lies have I believed?

"I'll take care of it, don’t worry about it."

He utters as he leans in to kiss me. I wince slightly before he pulls away and tugs the sheets to stare at my swollen wrist.

“My men did this?”

He asks as a dark expression crosses his face for a fleeting second before his thumb caresses the inside of my swollen wrist, making me shudder, so I pull away before my body yearns for him.

“It’s just a scratch, but uh, Lewis, I don't want any more people under the guise of ‘security’ around me."

"But you need security, honey. Your ex is back in the picture, and I don't want you getting hurt."

He explains sweetly; his use of ‘honey’ makes my heart flutter.

"You think he will find me here? In the middle of nowhere?"

"It's for your safety. I don't want to risk it."

Wow... it's like talking to a brick wall.

"Right…my safety. Well, honey, you are on the bed with outside clothes; we talked about this. The bed is a pyjama zone only.
