“So what do I do to express that I am pleased to meet her?” I asked.

“Just be nice to her.”

“Okay,” I said and nodded, now regarding Aurora who was pretending that she was not listening. “Uhhh, hey, Aurora. I love your black lipstick.”

Diego chuckled on the other side as if what I said was ridiculous. Aurora on the other hand chuckled nervously and flew her hand to her lips, as if pretending that she was not offended.

“U-Uhhh, my lips are not festooned with lipstick. Black is my natural color,” she said and smiled fakely.

Oh, shit!

I slapped my forehead and gnashed my teeth as a sign of embarrassment. “Oh, my goodness. I am so sorry for offending you. I didn't mean it,” I said, now panicking out of frustration."

“Oh, don’t be. I get that comment all the time, so it’s fine,” she assured me even though I was still sorry.

Diego’s laugh was still ongoing so I glared at him. To express that I was annoyed that I am not happy at her ridicule, I moved away his hand with irritation.
