Chapter 12 - Neil

Just jump! Jump down the cliff! I yell at Sphinx who is still trying to figure out a plan.

I'll rather face the feral alpha than jump down the cliff. We don't even know if there are other dangerous rogues down there.

The rustling of leaves become much louder and force Sphinx to be alert. The wolf's barking growls comes even closer as he appears from the thick covering of leaves. Then the alpha growls, loudly at first until he begin to whimper. Then, I realize it. He's hurt. It's a painful growl.

I look down to his paw and notice he is bleeding profusely with strong iron stuck in his right paw. He just stepped into a trap. Was it there when Sphinx passed? How did Sphinx manage to avoid the trap?

I saw the trap if that's what you're thinking. He was just desperate that he didn't watch his step, Sphinx says. I could sense his pride as we watch the alpha struggle with the trap. The traps in the woods are set by the wolf hunters. Operation wipe out wolves.

The alpha wolf whimpers. He growl
