Your Eyes

I moved closer to try to get a peek at what Isaiah was doing. A part of me was still nervous to be out here like this with him.

He turned towards me with plugs in his hands and the biggest smile. “This,” he said, joining both plugs and trees around the clearing lit up.

The colors spread across the trees and reflected off the snow below. I walked under them until I felt covered with all the lights. It reminded me of the drive-thru light festival my family was at. I closed my eyes, imagining myself with them now.

When I opened my eyes, I saw two folded chairs under the trees. Isaiah took my hand and helped settle me in the chair before sitting in his. He took a canteen out with two cups and poured something into both. He handed me one, and I could smell the hot chocolate. He pulled something wrapped from another bag, and my nose could already tell it was a cinnamon roll. He handed one to me, and I noticed it was still warm.
