CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Hera's POV

My heart is still beating erratically while I eat and it's hard to swallow as Hugh stares at me like there is nothing to concentrate on in the kitchen.

The cut on my lip is burning as I eat but I hardly notice it because my hands are still shaky from the unexpected kiss I just had with him.

I didn't see it coming. I didn't expect it to happen so fast, but then I could feel the magnetic draw between us and how he kept on staring at me with so much intensity so it was understandable if he couldn't help himself but kiss me. After all, I'm his mate.

I take the last of the pasta on my plate and chew then I swallow nervously like I've been doing since I started eating. I drop my fork loudly and rush off to get water which I drink in a rush. I can still feel Hugh's eyes boring into my back and I know I have to leave the kitchen as fast I can before I do something I'll wake up to regret tomorrow.
