16. Not a Prisoner

I let out an exhausted breath but made no move to remove myself from Elena’s arms as we sat on the floor beside the bed. I was tired and I doubt I could stand on my feet if I tried. It was as if I unravelled everything and now there was nothing holding me together.

“How do you feel now?” Lily asked after a long time, breaking me out from the trance I found myself stuck in.

“I think I am” I felt so relieved after so long and it was all thanks to these two ladies who I don’t even know.

I cleaned the invisible tear under my eyes and felt the bags that were there. They had grown bigger with my breakdown but I felt better and that topped everything now

“I’m sorry about what happened earlier. I didn’t even realise that you had so much bottled up” Elena apologised from behind me but I shook my head in protest
