CHAPTER 85

The rage, the blinding and consuming fury had ebbed away leaving behind a vast and empty space where it once raged. Now, in the stillness of the study, Alpha Landon was left with a chilling reality. His hands, still trembling, were stained red, and a horrifyingly familiar scent lingered in the air, the metallic tang of blood.

Landon's gaze fell on the body sprawled on the plush rug, the face contorted in a grotesque mask of pain. Leo Madison, Zoe's father, his father-in-law, a man he had once considered an ally. Now, he was nothing more than a corpse.

Panic cold and sharp pierced through the fog of his lingering anger. He was lost, adrift in a sea of fear and confusion. He had crossed a line, a line that couldn't be unseen, couldn't be undone. He had to get out of here, to escape the suffocating weight of his crime.
