Davina sat in her room, staring at the beauty of the walls in front of her. She had a lot to do, but her mind kept wandering back to the conversation she had earlier with Keith. He had come to her chamber, looking troubled and anxious.

"Luna, I am worried about not completing the rites of alpha and Luna," he had said, his eyes downcast.

Davina had known this conversation was coming. Keith had been asking about the completion of the rites for weeks now. But she couldn't ignore the elephant in the room any longer. "Keith, we can't mate until the missing piece of the amulet is found and the murderer of your parents, the late alpha and Luna, is brought to justice. You know that," she said, her voice firm.

Keith's face fell. "But it's been so long. And we still don't have any leads on who did it. How much longer do we have to wait?"
