2.51 Ancient Snake

Mick POV

“This is where you saw him go?” I asked as we got out of the car in an open field about a hundred yards from the old hotel.

Driana took a long drag from her cigarette, leaning out of the car window. “That’s what I said.”

“There’s not a damn thing here,” Miles curled his lip. His hair was disheveled, and his eyes looked mad. I probably looked the same. We’ve been fucking insane since Chloe was taken.

I took a deep inhale of the air, Rome pushing through to the surface, desperately searching for a sign of our mate.

Nothing. There was nothing. Not the faintest hint of sage or any scent of our pack.

“The tires cut off here,” Miles pointed at the flattened area on the grass.

Rodger and Kai had just gotten out of their car and were coming up to the place Miles was pointing to. Rodger gasped and stopped short after stepping over the tracks to the undisturbed patch of grass beside it, where the track should have continued. His body shivered, and his head fell back.
