Chapter 12

Alaric's POV.

"Master Alaric, you can believe that I am the culprit. I'm being framed here. I swear on the moon goddess!" Lucy was quick to fret, her eyes popping out from their sockets like she had just faced the most horrific event of her life.

I could almost swear that I believed her again, but I wasn't sure. These maids have been working for me since their first day in the palace, so having to believe that Lucy was trying to frame Alana for an offense that demanded she be punished by me is unrealistic.

I shook my head at her words.

"Master Alaric!" I held out my palm at her, and she hushed talking.

The room was once again pulled back into silence.

Then, I walked over to Alana. Zeroed, my eyes stuck on her face, and I said, "Look at me, Alana."

When she raised her gaze at me, my nostrils inhaled more air, and my sternum broadened, showing that my heartbeat had quickened.

I squinted my eyes as I searched into hers. She was innocent. I could tell, and as the light bounced off
