Chapter Thirty Nine: Ransom

Clara's POV

I can hear arguing. It's faint but I can hear it. I'm slowly coming to after suffering a blow to the head. The back of my head hurts. I got the mask off and saw two of the men who abducted me. One of them hit me pretty hard. 

I brought my hand to the back of my head. It hurts. I looked at the red on my palm. 

"Damn it." I sat up slowly. 

I'm covered in hay. It smells horrible. I removed some pieces from my hair. Mom was right. I should have brought an umbrella. I can hear heavy rainfall outside. It's windy in too!

I think I'm in a stable. It reminds me of the one in Virginia. But this one is smaller and smellier. There are no horses though but I can see saddles and stacks of hay. I tried to get up but I couldn't move as much. My ankles are restrained by a chain wrapped around a metal rod. 

The arguing is getting closer. I heard the barn door
