Chapter 37

I laid awake in bed, my eyes droopy but sleep never coming to take me home. I kept staring at the screen of my phone, somehow hoping that Junior would call me but I knew that it was stupid of me to do that. There's no way he'll ever contact me again and the realization makes my warm blood turn cold.

I sighed as I put down the phone and pushed it under the blanket before I turned around in Elijah's arms and faced him. His face was relaxed as he slept and I trailed my fingers along the lines of it. He was a beautiful creature- a handsome creature. He looked so restful and peaceful, and I wondered if anything ever truly bothered him the same way things bother other people. He seems so nonchalant and relaxed. I can see how uncaring he is about this whole Junior situation but he tries to fake it I guess, and it both infuriated and unbothered me at the same time.
