Mrs. Whitlock's brows furrowed as she raked her memory, trying to be sure as she recalled the name. It took a moment, but then it clicked. "Yes, that's right," she replied.

"Why would you pursue a woman you've just met? You don't even know her family or where she comes from," Mr. Whitlock interrogated with a tone of sureness, convinced of Ethan's lack of knowledge about the woman's background.

Ethan stared at his father, Mr. Whitlock, with a bewildered expression. The room fell silent as tension thickened in the air. Mrs. Whitlock, Ethan's mother, turned to face her husband, her eyes filled with concern.

"Dad, I know her family," Ethan finally spoke, his voice calm but firm.

Mr. Whitlock scoffed, his anger evident in his voice. "I knew it! You want to go for a woman from a church rat family, huh?" he yelled, his words laced with disdain.
