Chapter Sixty-Four—Michael Reveals His Change Of Heart

Michael mulled over how he’d talk to Julie about this when he found her sitting at her desk on the phone talking to someone, and she sounded rather distressed. It didn’t last long, and he didn’t catch what she said before she disconnected the call.

“Hm? I'm uncertain and perhaps uninterested in finding out. No, that’s not true. I’m not sure. There’s some gossip on the internet, and it’s been blowing up Stephan’s phone and email. He’s hoping to handle it. But he’s afraid my publisher will think it’s too much and cancel my contract. I need a contingency plan if that happens.
