Finding another woman pressed against Lyrek as he held her shoulders with his hands wasn’t the worst part of what I was seeing. No, it was that they were currently locking their lips together. It felt like an eternity before Lyrek pushed her away and stared at her.

The intensity in his gaze was almost too much to bear. Was it possible that Margaret had said all of that because they were having an affair? Shaking my head back and forth, I tried to clear the image out of my mind.

There was no way I could be this mistaken about the kind of person Lyrek was. In a way, it did make a little sense. Unlike me, she was educated and could take care of herself financially. She wanted a man to take care of her, but she didn’t need one.
