Lucy.
What was Mr. Christian doing at the hospital? And he looked so pissed off. It looked like he was scolding the doctor because he stopped the moment I entered.
That son of a bitch. I almost got into an argument with Mr. Frederick this morning, because he wouldn't listen to me. He insisted I continue to persuade Mr. Christian to accept his offer or I would sleep with him and if I deny, he would fire me and I couldn't let that happen.
"How did you even get hurt like this?" Brandon Walked and sat next to me, watching as I cleaned the bruises on my knees. "I have asked her too, but she wouldn't tell me."
My mother confirmed, coming towards us with a green bowl with hot water inside, and a white towel. She was going to use it to massage the areas on my legs where I had bruises.
I couldn't tell them what happened.
I had this bruised on my leg because of Mr. Christian. He had dragged me on the floor without a care in the world, though I begged him not too.
My mother would freak out if I tell what has been going on. It was good I kept it to myself.
"I slipped and fell when I went to give some files to Mr. Frederick. The floor was wet.
I lied
My mother glared at me with a serious expression on her face.
She gently placed the bowl of hot water on the brown wooden table in front of us. When that was done, she turned to me.
"I have told you to quit that job, Raine. We can look for another job. That man is not worth working for"
She took my hands in hers and glared at me and the look in her eyes showed how much she meant her words.
"You know what happened to your father. I don't want you getting into the same situation..."
She let go of my hands and looked at the bruises on my leg. "This is why you should leave his company ".
"Exactly why I should stay, mother. I would not quit until he pays in one way or the other for what he did to my father" I felt this fit of range within me. He has to pay.
"I'm strongly behind her, momma. How can a man be so wicked? My father would have been alive today if that bastard had done something"Brandon stood up agitated.
"I'm just scared for you. What if he finds out about you and your plans? You know how influential that man is. He would not use up to ten minutes to ruin us". My mother shook her head worriedly. But I was not going to give up.***
It's been close to three days now that I have been going to and fro at Caspian Power, to see Mr. Christian but they wouldn't let me go in. I have sent them several emails, but none have been responded to.
One week out of the two weeks he had given, had expired already and if he doesn't say anything this week, then I'm afraid Mr. Frederick might fire me and that's something I would not let happen. I haven't seen him for a week, because I have been avoiding him and even his calls.
Luckily, the bruises on my knees and behind my leg had healed, though there were some scars on them, with time they would fade away.
I was standing in front of my dressing mirror in my walk-in closet. I was just from taking my bath. I unwrapped the white towel around my body and kept it on the chair next to me. I replaced it with a white nightgown. With that being done, I put my hair in a black hair bonnet and applied some facial cream on my face, before walking to my room.I went directly to the apple laptop on my table. Pulling a chair from the table, I sat on it and opened my laptop. I went directly to emails. I checked the almost four emails I sent to Caspian Power yesterday and early today, but none has been responded to.
I huffed in frustration and leaned back in my chair, thinking of what to do next. With my mind made up, I decided to send him one last message and if he didn't reply, then Mr. Frederick had better be prepared to pay his bills.
Pulling the laptop in front of me, I clicked on the previous messages and opened a new page where I wrote an email and sent it to him.
After sending the message, I leaned forward and grabbed a glass of water on the stool next to me. I gulped in a good quantity and returned the glass.
Aware that I was not going to receive a reply today or tomorrow, I went on to shut down the laptop, however, a notification popped on the section where I had the emails.
I flexed my brows, wondering who sent the email. My eyes brightened up when I caught sight of a new notification from Caspian Power.
I chuckled as I clicked on the message.
"Meet me in my office at exactly 10 AM, Lucy."
What?. The message didn't catch my attention but my name. I never introduced myself to him.
I continue to stare at my name, at the end of the message. How did he get my name? Did he run a background check on me? Because that's what rich people normally do.Oh no! Did it have something to do with what I did at his company? Was he planning on putting me behind bars?.
I bit my lower lips as I responded to the message "Sure, Mr. Christian Seth Caspian, and thank you." Though my mind was battling with the thought of him putting me in jail.
I pressed the send button and was about to shut the laptop when I received another notification.
I blinked. What's going on, he was replying too fast today. "Just call me Christian"
He replied and I nodded. "Alright, Christian."
No other notification came after that, so I finally went to bed.
"Make sure to be a good boy at school". I pulled my little brother into a hug and then placed a kiss on his forehead as I was about to go to work. At exactly 10 AM I would be going to see Mr. Christian or Christian."You should stop hugging and kissing me like that, especially in public. Someone might think we are in a romantic relationship."
He pulled away from me. I just shook my head. He has never liked that, especially when a girl hugged him. It irritated him."You can't keep doing that. You will get married someday and all these things will happen."
My mother interrupted, walking towards me, with a smile on her face and a pink lunchbox in her hands.
"I'm not going to get married and thanks for the advice. On my way to school. Stay safe and I love you all" he waved a bye at us and scurried out of the house.
"I don't know what's wrong with him, Lucy. He keeps breaking the hearts of girls at school and even around the neighborhood but he doesn't care, saying that he doesn't want to engage with any girl."
Yes, my little brother was a heartbreaker. His principal had invited my mother and I on several occasions to his school and complained about girls fighting because of him.
Not like he would ask them out, but the girls would do and when he didn't give attention, it became an issue.
At just 20, he was doing just too much, with his looks. Tall, muscular, handsome, with thick dark hair and a few stumbles under his chin.
I wonder if Mr. Christian had girls gauging over him too. Ofcourse. He must have a flock of them like sheep. He was just too handsome to be true.
Had it been he was not rude to me on our first meeting, I would have complimented him
because I like acknowledging good things."Just let the boy be. He might reconsider his decision, when the time comes. Let him concentrate on his studies for the moment."
I pulled her into a hug and left after that.
I raced outside of Harrison Journal and got into my car. It was 9:30 AM, so I made my way directly to Caspian Power.
I arrived at the gate and I was hoping they would stop me from entering, but no one did.
"Are you Miss Lucy?"I nodded to a young lady, with blonde hair, big boobs, and a curvy figure. Her lips were painted red. She wore a blue fitted gown, blue kitten heels, and a pair of blue feathering earrings
Talk of class.
"Are you with me?" She questioned and I blinked.
"Of Course."
"Good, follow me."
I got out of the car and followed her. We took the elevator and went up, passing several floors.
Soon, we stopped and got out of the elevator.
"You can leave us, Ms. Juliette."
Mr. Christian waved at the lady that brought me in. She bowed and immediately left.
He looked calm and more collected than I saw him the last time, though his deep and sleepy eyes held this dark aura in them.
"So, you are Lucy and you work for Mr. Frederick Harrison?"
He was dressed in a gray business suit today and it printed his arms so badly.
His black hair was brushed behind as it glistened in the white light that illuminated his big office.
"Y..yes sir." I answered, trying to keep myself together
"Don't you know it's unprofessional, to keep sending multiple emails to a business partner and most especially to me. I hate them. If I don't respond, don't force it."
He leaned back in his chair, with a frown on his face, with his eyes not leaving me.
"I'm sorry about that" I curtly said. I should be the one angry here, given that he made me bruised on my legs.
"You should be sorry for yourself and that shouldn't happen again."
He glared at me wickedly. Was this the reason he invited me over?
"What were you doing at the hospital the day I saw you there?".
His question took me by surprise. Why was he asking?
Because I went to take care of the bruises you left on me. I wanted to say that but refrained myself.
"Nothing, sir ". I said calmly as I looked at the window behind him, avoiding his gaze.
"Oh, I see " he raised a brow and then leaned forward.
"Since it's nothing, let's get to the reason why I called you here."
I adjusted myself on the chair, waiting for him to give his resolution."You want me to give your company some time right?"
"Yes." I quickly answered with a pinched face. Perhaps, there was some hope."Okay. I can grant you that, but there is something I will want you to do for me."Oops! I didn't see that coming. The fact that he was serious meant something.
"What is that?"
I enquired with doubt
"I want you to work for me, apparently as a cleaner." He requested, with a sly smile on his face.
What?
"-"
Lucy."Umm..." he wanted me to be his cleaner. I was lost for words and didn't know how to respond to that. I thought he was just going to agree with the reason I came here and that would be it. Even if I needed another job so badly, it wouldn't be a cleaning job."What do you say? Or do you want some time to think about it?" He leaned forward and rested his hands on the table in front of him, with his lips in a thin line.I adjusted myself on the chair in front of him. I don't even need the job, so giving me time to think about it, would be useless."I have a job already and I don't need one. I only came here for negotiation and not for a job interview."I blankly said."You know, I'm a busy man. You should be thankful that, I allowed you to seat in front of me, because not many low-life people like you, would have that opportunity."Low life? My fist tightened at my side, my jaws clenched when he said that.I was not a low life, I was doing just fine until Mr. Frederick had to put
Christian. I made a promise to Kevin the last time I visited him at the hospital that I always create time to come and check on him. However my schedules these days were so tight that I didn't even have time to take care of my own things. I have the Balmoral project to take care of, to see how far it would go. I have selected some workers in my company that will be going there with me tomorrow so that we can inspect the place and see how we can build up the dam.I want it to be built as early as possible so that the indigenous people of Balmoral would have electricity in their locality.Balmoral is a local community in an almost isolated place in Chester, mainly made up of struggling individuals, who would hardly pay their bills on time and some do not even pay at all, resulting in me making some losses in the company. In order to overcome that, I thought that it would be good for me to build a dam just next to their community to make electricity possible for them and just forge
Lucy. Thankfully, Mr Frederick had agreed for me to work with Mr. Christian He didn't want to incur any losses, that's why he had to let me. If his company was shut down, that means shutting down his life as well, thereby shutting down the pride he had in him. Preparing to work for Mr. Christian, what Mr.Frederick had said to me back at his office, kept ringing in my head. I belonged to him! It sounded ridiculous each time I thought about it. Did he mean that I belong to him as a worker or did it have some meaning attached to it?Was it something else? Well, if that was the case then he shouldn't even try it because I have been patient for quite a long time now. He shouldn't do anything that will get me on the edge, because I wouldn't hesitate to exert the revenge I have been planning for a long time now. He had caused my family and me so much pain. And I would not have pity in ruining him. The lady I saw in his company, who could she be. I knew Mr. Frederick was not marri
Lucy."He doesn't like, when people take time to do what he asked them to do and trust me if he comes here that you haven't started your work, then he will be very pissed at you."My hands coiled up in a fist, once Miss Juliet finished the rubbish she was spitting out from her mouth. Even though I was coming here to clean, I wasn't expecting this kind of cleaning. I wouldn't get up early in my house, take my bath, and get well dressed to come and mop the floor of someone's office. Why would he do this? I haven't made him angry, and neither have we met before. Whatever thing was wrong with him, he should channel it to Mr. Frederick and not me. I owe him nothing. I swallowed the bitter lump in my throat and calmed down my nerves. I asked the lady who was still in front of me, with her hands folded, like she was enjoying all this. "Okay fine. What am I expected to do?"I asked. I choose to go with the popular phrase, which says "obedience before complaining."It was my first day, I c
Christian. "Lucy!"That girl seemed to be troublesome. She thought I was just going to give her company sometime, without them doing anything rewarding for me as well. I was just like the devil, I give with the right hand and collect with the left hand. The amount of time I gave Harrison Journal was almost over and they would pay their bills when that time comes. As for Lucy, she was going to work for me. I was now her new Boss and not Mr. Frederick Harrison anymore. She was going to do exactly what I told her.Knock!Knock!I was in my study, when I heard a knock at my door.I kept the pen I was holding and pressed my lips in a thin line as I looked at the door. These are the kinds of things I hate. No one should knock at my door, when I'm busy. I hate being interrupted.I stayed quiet hoping the person would leave, but they knocked again. At this point, I didn't have any options than to answer the door."Come in." I answer with my voice coming out cold as always. Even before
Lucy. On normal days, I wouldn't tolerate the kind of behavior Mr.Christian was given me at this point. However, I just had to go with it, because as he said, he was now my boss and anything he asked me to do, I was going to do it for him, with no hesitation. It is often said that, when you want something out of life, you have to give in your utmost best, forgetting how you are being treated. You just have to ignore it. After cleaning his office and taking off the coat he was unable to take off his body, I thought I could go back home, since my work in his office was already done, but he denied me from leaving. Honestly, I was already getting tired with just the first day at work. Him and his assistant were bent on making my life hell as I work for him. I haven't even had anything to eat the whole day. I was seating at the long black couch in his office, with my phone in my hands? scrolling down it and looking for the latest news over the internet. Normally, I was not
Lucy.I stood in front of my mirror and examined my look for the day. It was just going to be another boring day at Mr.Christian's office. Honestly, I didn't know how long I was going to work for him. I came to him with a request, but he didn't give me a reasonable answer and instead asked me to work for him, in order for him to spare Harrison Journal. Yet, I didn't know what his main motive was.It was long before I was going to work for him.It was initially two weeks for Mr. Frederick He had added another week, making it three weeks, however, two weeks had gone by already. Harrison Journal had just one more week to pay the sum of 10 million dollars. And when that is done, I will be out of Caspian Power, collect my pay for the time being, and leave for my former job.Grabbing my handbag from the table, I made my way out of my room. I closed the door behind me and made my way downstairs. I stopped midway on the stairs when I saw my Brandon sitting on the couch, with his glued to
Christian. "I will be there in about thirty minutes. " "Come on, that's a long time to keep me waiting. You know what; I will just go ahead and you can meet me there." Laura furiously answered. I didn't say anything, just let her do whatever was on her mind. I was the beneficiary here, so I was just going to go with whatever thing she decided. After all, things would last just for a moment. When I got what I wanted, I was going to let go of her. Women were not my thing, neither was she. I was just putting this up because I needed her father in my project. "Did you get the flowers?" I asked Miss Juliet who stepped into my office, with a smile plastered on her face. I usually wonder why she always has that on her face, each time she walks into my office. And behind the smile, you could tell that, there was nothing genuine about it. People who always have those sinister smiles on their faces are always up to no good. "I have handed it over to Salvador. He took them from
