Chapter 33. A discussion

Ava cleared her throat and then took a sharp breath into her lungs. She felt strange, as Björn's proximity had left her with an unusual feeling. Normally, any touch would have prompted Ava to react sharply and dismissively, pushing away any man around her. But since she had been in closer contact with him, she felt somewhat secure, as if he unconsciously protected her. "Or maybe he's just like that with everyone, Ava," she mentally said, abruptly dismissing any further thoughts.

"Has 'our' boss left?" Ava heard her friend Alice's voice behind her. Her mascara was smudged, her blonde hair stuck to her forehead, and it was unclear if it was sweat or if she had wet her face. Ava turned to face her and nodded without saying anything. "Well, everyone is drunk, so his actions are to be expected." Ava raised an eyebrow at her comment.
