Chapter 2 - The Ice Cold Man

Elisha was confused. Right now, she needed someone to able to help her.

Then as if God answered her prayer, she saw a man walking in the corridor on the left. The man then stopped in front of a room, took out a card, then opened the door.

Elisha didn't have time to think anymore. She immediately ran towards the man and managed to hold the door before it was closed entirely.

"Help me, Sir!" She exclaimed immediately. "Allow me to hide in your room. One moment. Please."

Elisha didn't have time to pay attention to the figure of the man in front of her. She panicked too much. She just imagined what would happen if she ever got caught alone was terrifying. Elisha's breathing was so heavy, her head also felt dizzy.

Until then, she heard that cold voice.

"Why should I help you?"

"Bad people are chasing me and—"

"I have no reason to help you. So go ahead."

"No—but, Sir. I—They'll find me and arrest me soon enough."

"Then?"

"Yes? What-"

"Then why? What does that have to do with me? After all, we don't know each other, do we? So, as I said, go ahead."

Elisha didn't expect to get this kind of response at all. Especially when the man immediately closed the door of his room just like that without giving Elisha a chance to say anything else.

In front of the closed door, Elisha could only stare. Meanwhile, the footsteps of the people chasing her were getting closer and closer.

"How about this?" She whispered. "Now, what should I do? Where can I run to?"

Wherever she wanted to run, Elisha was sure that Dudley Baker's people were looking for her on every hotel floor. She needed a miracle to get away from here.

Elisha bit her lip. Her current feeling was like being on the edge of a cliff, ready to crash at any moment.

Maybe she'd better face death before meeting her fate at the hands of a man like Dudley Baker. After all, all of this was her uncle's doing.

"Yes." She whispered later. "It's better that way. Instead of me living and receiving all the humiliating treatment, I'd rather die."

Elisha shivered at the thought alone. Inwardly, she mocked herself for his idea earlier. But in a way, Elisha also realized that she didn't have much choice.

"Okay, Mom. I think I'll see you sooner than I should. Please don't scold me later."

Elisha looked around, trying to find something to hurt herself. A giant vase display came into view, and she had intended to go over to it and break it. At least she wanted to make a scene for the hotel staff to come because Elisha didn't intend to do anything stupid like killing herself.

But just a few steps, someone suddenly grabbed her arm, dragged Elisha into the room, then just dropped her.

"Sir, I—" Elisha had just wanted to say thank you but failed. She immediately shut her mouth when she felt a cold metal against her forehead.

At this time, the man she had asked for help was pointing a gun at her.

"Tell me," said the man with piercing eyes. "Who sent you?"

"What?"

"I don't like asking twice. Now tell me, on whose orders are you here?"

Elisha was confused. She looked at that man and observed him for the first time.

The moment Elisha saw him, she felt a light stab in her chest. There was a momentary pain she felt, replaced by an erratic heartbeat.

The man had black hair with a pair of magnificent eyes. At first glance, Elisha thought the color of the man's eyes was black, but it was only when the light hit him that she realized that the man's eyes were dark blue.

The man was quite tall, especially from Elisha's current position, making him look even more soaring. His shoulders were broad, and Elisha had difficulty taking her eyes off that firm-looking chest.

"Do you have a hearing problem? Didn't I ask you earlier?"

The cold sentence had succeeded in bringing Elisha back to consciousness. The blood seemed to drain from her face as she realized she had ignored this man for more than a minute.

Please don't forget about the gun still attached to her forehead.

"Who are you? What is your goal? Who sent you? Answer my questions, or I will silence you forever."

The man walked towards her slowly until finally looking down at Elisha.

"I didn't expect to receive such a warm welcome immediately." He said in a sarcastic tone. "But I didn't expect they would send such a gorgeous girl as bait."

The man gripped Elisha's cheeks with only one hand. He then turned to Elisha's neck and immediately strangled her without hesitation.

"Answer my question, and I might consider painlessly finishing you off."

"Let me go! How should I answer your question? I don't understand!"

"For the third time, who sent you?"

"No one! No one sent me! Have you forgotten that I came to ask you for help?"

"And do you think I'll believe it, huh? Do you think I'm stupid?"

Elisha kicked that man in the groin area. She was already having difficulty breathing, so she was desperate to do it.

"Damn it!"

Elisha could hear the man cursing loudly, but she didn't flinch. Elisha snapped back at him, even though her body and voice were trembling.

"Th-if you aren't stupid, at least let someone else explain before you point a gun and strangle her like that!"

The man looked like he was rethinking this unexpected situation. He looked displeased, thinking that someone was playing a trick on him on purpose.

"What kind of plan is this exactly?" He whispered while blatantly observing Elisha. "Hey, were you sent here to tease me? Did they think they'd be able to get something out of me that way, hm?"

The man said shamelessly. He ignored Elisha's blushing face caused by his words just now.

Tempt? After all, who is teasing who?

Elisha slowly pulled up her dress by the shoulders. She tried to cover the neck and upper chest area, which was quite exposed. Her gut told her that right now, she was in danger.

"Okay." He said again with a smirk on his handsome face. "In that case, I will not refuse. After all, your face and body are to my taste."

Elisha's eyes widened. She looked up at the man and immediately held her breath. Right now, Elisha felt herself to be nothing more than a herbivorous animal that was helpless in the face of the predator.

Oh, God. Is that clear that her decision to ask this man's help was wrong?

"S—sorry, sir. There seems to be a misunderstood." Elisha returned to speaking formally. "I don't— I mean, I could—"

Unfortunately, Elisha did not have time to finish her sentence. Right now, for the first time in her life, someone grabbed her lips so greedily.
