The Boss's Target

"What is this? Why are you behaving like this?" Sean asked, which made River look at him with one eyebrow raised.

"Act like what?" River asked back.

"You're becoming a thief," Sean said, pointing at the gold necklace with a daisy pendant in River's hand. By chance, the man found it near the stairs when he was starting to look for the necklace.

"What's stealing? I'll give it back," River dodged.

"Then hurry back! Why are you keeping quiet and making everyone look for it so late?" demanded Sean, who was already very annoyed at River. He was annoyed because River had just ended the party when he was just about to start inviting a woman to meet him. Now the man made him look for a necklace that had been found more than 2 hours ago.

"What time does the last bus run?" River asked.

"I don't know!" Sean replied curtly.

And River casually said, "Find out there! I will disperse everyone once the last bus has finished running."

"Seriously! Why do we have to work overtime until this late just to look for a necklace?"

"I could miss the bus at this rate."

"Why did she have to lose her necklace and make everyone bother like this?"

Daisy bit her lower lip. Even though she was busy looking for his necklace, she could still clearly hear all the annoyed grunts from the maids looking for her necklace. It's been more than 3 hours since they searched for the necklace, and it feels like all corners of the ballroom have been thoroughly explored, but the necklace still needs to be found.

"Zoey~" Daisy whined at Zoey, who looked very sleepy. "Is Boss going to keep us up all night if we don't find the necklace?"

"Why don't you ask him directly?" Zoey asked back, which Daisy answered with a shake of her head.

"You pissed everyone off, you know. Quickly tell Boss if you will continue looking for it again tomorrow so we can go home soon," Zoey suggested.

Daisy's face looked objected. But seeing the maids already very annoyed because they couldn't find her necklace, Daisy had no choice but to go to River and ask the man to stop all this.

"Have found?" River asked when Daisy was already standing before him–making Sean, who was next to him, sneer at the lie he had told Daisy.

"The necklace is still not found. But since it's so late, I think it's better to look for it again tomorrow," said Daisy.

"Well, it's getting late, and the bus must be out of service," River said, glancing at the watch on his left wrist. "Then let me ride you home."

"Oh, no need, Boss. I live near here. It won't take more than 5 minutes to walk," said Daisy, which made Sean almost burst out laughing if only River didn't glare at him.

"I'm really sorry for messing up your party, Boss," Daisy regretted.

"It doesn't matter. The party was so boring, and I thank you for giving me a reason to end it," River said. "Then go home now. You must be very tired."

After everyone left the ballroom, only River and Sean were left there. Sean shook his head as he saw River smiling as he stared at Daisy's necklace that he found.

"I really don't understand what exactly you are doing. Are you interested in that woman? Then why steal her necklace like this?" asked Sean.

"Isn't that woman quite attractive? She only wears a t-shirt and jeans but still looks very beautiful among the women who dress up in fancy dresses." River said while looking gently at the necklace in his hand as if he was looking directly at Daisy.

"That woman is rather short, rather thin, and her boobs are also small," said Sean, which made River's smile even more expansive.

"She's a bit short and thin, and her boobs are also small. But she still looks gorgeous and attractive with a body like that," said River.

Sean frowned as he asked, "So you're going to choose that woman this time? She's not to your type at all, Bro!"

"I never knew because I never tried," River replied with a shrug. "Therefore, I'll give it a try now. I think it will be an interesting experience to date a woman who looks so innocent."

"I really couldn't sleep all night. The moment when our boss approached me and talked to me kept playing over and over in my head. And when I finally get to sleep, I dream about him instead. Since he bothered to appear in my dreams, I was sure that I would be in a serious relationship with him."

Daisy, who was enjoying her lunch, just rolled her eyes at Zoey. It felt like she was fed up because, earlier, the woman had only been talking about River and her ambition to marry him.

"I can see how he's fascinated by me," said Zoey, remembering when her and River's eyes met–which, in her memory, happened in a very romantic scene.

Then patting Daisy on the back, Zoey said, "Our suffering will soon be over. As soon as I marry Boss, I'll make you a director who can easily work in this hotel."

"It's already very late, but why are you still dreaming? Wake up, Zoey! Wake up! You make me sick to keep talking about Boss–"

"Do I sicken you, Miss?"

A voice interrupted Daisy's words and caused the woman to go into shock as she realized whose voice it was. Her body froze, and she didn't dare to turn her head back when she saw Zoey sitting across from her, looking as shocked as she was.

And also, all the employees in the dining room were surprised by the appearance of the big boss. This was the employee break room which the hotel officials never visited. It was a complete shock to everyone when the owner of this hotel suddenly appeared at their place like this.

"Daisy Winter?" River asked after Daisy failed to respond to his words.

"Yes!" Daisy got rid of her shock and immediately got up from her seat, then turned her body to face River. Her heart was beating fast, thinking about what would happen to her after she said something that made River misunderstand. In front of her, River was looking at her seriously with his two sharp eyes. The man's intimidating aura became even thicker, weakening Daisy's legs.

Then, still with a severe expression, River said, "Come to my room now!"

Along the way to River's room on the highest floor of this hotel, Daisy stood behind River. She was busy thinking about what words to say to River to explain if she didn't mean to badmouth River. The woman was so preoccupied with her thoughts that she didn't realize that while she was in the elevator, River kept watching her from the elevator door's reflection. Secretly amused by the woman's nervousness.

"What exactly makes this woman feel so attractive that I can't stop looking at her like this?" River was amazed at himself for enjoying watching Daisy so quietly.

Daisy was a beautiful woman, but definitely not the prettiest of all the women who had been in and out of River's life. So if it was only about beauty, that wasn't the point that attracted River to her. Something else that feels special about the woman makes it so irresistible because River doesn't even know what that special part is.

"Have you seen the reports– Oh!" Sean sitting on River's chair while checking a report, was shocked when he saw River, who had come with Daisy. Daisy bowed respectfully to him while he was still surprised to see a maid like Daisy walk into the CEO's office like this.

"Go back to your desk!" River's command made Sean immediately rise from his chair.

"Wow," Sean muttered. "Wow," he repeated when he didn't know how to react.

After Sean left the room, Daisy was now trapped alone with River. An intense nervousness attacked her uncontrollably and made her forget how to breathe. River stood before her, leaning against the table and folding his arms across his chest. The man didn't do anything but stare at Daisy, but that alone was enough to make Daisy's heart beat fast and her legs feel weak.

"About what I said before," Daisy finally said after waiting for River to remain silent without saying anything. She didn't want to continue to be stuck here with River because it felt like her heart might explode if she had to continue receiving that dazzling glare from River. "I didn't mean to badmouth you, Boss. I don't want you to misunderstand and think that I–"

"I didn't call you here to talk about that," River interrupted Daisy, who sounded very nervous. "I just want to give you something," he said as he put something on his desk. Which then succeeded in making Daisy widen her eyes when she saw the black jewelry box.

"Did you find my necklace, Boss?" Daisy asked with sparkling eyes.

River smiled slightly at the corner of his lips, then said, "See for yourself."

Daisy took the jewelry box and opened it with a pounding heart. However, the smile on her face immediately vanished when she saw that the necklace in the jewelry box was not her lost necklace.

"This isn't my necklace," said Daisy as she shifted her gaze from the beautiful diamond necklace to look back at River.

"Isn't that very beautiful?" he asked.

"Yes, the necklace is beautiful," Daisy said as she closed the jewelry box again. But before she could put the box on the table, River opened it again and took the necklace.

And what River did make Daisy hold her breath. The man pressed the diamond necklace to her chest, with his finger touching Daisy's skin, causing her to feel a strange twinge that she had never felt before.

"Boss," Daisy shivered, making River stop admiring the diamond necklace he put on the woman's chest.

River raised his eyes and smiled as his gaze met Daisy's. "For you," he said.

"Pardon?" Daisy looks confused. He didn't dare to think that River would give her the necklace because she was sure it was more expensive than all her salary while working at this hotel.

"I gave this necklace to you, Daisy," River said, which made the blood ripple all over Daisy's body when she heard the man call her by her first name using a low, deep voice.

"No, Boss. I'll find my necklace, so you don't have to–"

"I chose you, Daisy." River interrupted Daisy's refusal. Making the woman speechless with his surprise when she heard River clearly convey his purpose. "You came to my party last night, and I chose you as my girlfriend. So please accept this necklace. This is my first present to you as your boyfriend."
