Chapter 14: The Land Owner

Aunt Jess was furious after I told her what had happened earlier. We’re in their house talking with their family about the agreement they had with the landlord, who happened to vanish in just a blink of an eye.

"So you signed the contract without reading it carefully, Uncle Bryan?" I asked Janice’s father.

Uncle Bryan was playing with his fingers; he seemed down.

"I didn’t, the landlord was swaying me a lot and told me about what the contract says." He said I shouldn’t look at it but sign directly. "Since we really want and need this place, I signed."

Aunt Jess groaned as she began to massage her temple. Everyone seemed down as well as Janice and his sister. Before the man completely left, he gave us a copy of the proof they have, along with the other documents supporting it.

I stood up, trying to cheer for their family so it could quickly lighten up the mood.
