A bright yellowish orb rises from the night like a phoenix as tendrils of light spread across the mountain side. That is the last thing I remember before I wake up in the hospital groggy and in pain. A kind of dull ache, I should say.
The loss of Maureen finally hits me full force and the depths of my sorrow I have never known before takes over my soul. Unable to wish myself to do anything, I lay there and hope that I die because at least then I can be with my baby girl. Keeping my eyes closed, I listen to the nurse standing next to me.
