LUNCH BREAK.

Heart’s mind flew like a bird while she ate with her friends. She ate without restraint, but her thoughts and attention were absent.

“Slow down, you might choke,” Gigi said to her, causing her to look at her friend.

Her gaze was meaningful, but she couldn’t share anything with others around. Gigi looked at her wrist and slightly pulled up her sleeve.

“A souvenir?” She asked discreetly, to which Heart nodded.

“I’ll tell you later.”

Gigi nodded, “Sure. There will be plenty of opportunities.”

“Hey, Heart, Mads and Olive are going to some government agencies today. They said they’re going to inquire about the requirements for getting assistance for your Dad,” Cecille told her, and she nodded.

“Thank you.”
