Chapter Forty-seven

Hailey wanted to believe him. She just couldn't bring herself to.

It was obvious how desperate he was for her to spend time with him. She wasn't only afraid Kendrick would be mad, but what he was going to do. The one that would be hurt most in the end would be her.

"I won't allow anything to happen to us, Hailey. Only you and I belong together," he muttered it as if not just to her but to himself and Hailey shut her eyes.

"It hurts so much," he confessed and an unprecedented tear trickled down Hailey's cheek. "Just stay with me, I won't do anything to make you feel uncomfortable."
