Breath taken

(Ashley's POV)

"No!!" I jerked up, muttering words to myself. Having a nightmare wasn't something I anticipated but what else was new. I was trapped in a house I didn't want to be in and with a husband I didn't want to be with.

I looked at the window and realized that the sun was coming up, giving up different hues to the sky, making it more breathtaking.

"If it were a different occasion, I'd enjoy the sunrise with peace but not anymore. Esther isn't here anymore and I'm all alone... with this monster," I kept saying to myself.

My eyes started stinging with tears once again as my mind thought of everything going wrong in my life so far. I had no one now. Not a single person knew about my situation except Esther but she was no longer around.

I felt like I was a piece of glass being broken over and over again and every part of me would shatter into a million pieces, each of those pieces having shards of brokenness stabbing through my skin, causing pain. There was nothing left in me or a
