ROBERT'S POV

I kept my eyes on the road, the weight of Ariana’s question pressing down on me like a vice. Her words echoed in my mind, mingling with the heavy silence that filled the car. How could I answer her? How could I explain the mistakes of the past without causing her more pain? My grip on the steering wheel tightened, knuckles white under the strain, as I navigated the familiar streets leading home.

The garage door opened, and I pulled the car in, turning off the engine. The sudden quiet was almost deafening. I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself, and slowly removed my seatbelt. Turning to face Ariana, I saw the confusion and hurt in her eyes. My heart ached knowing I was the cause.
