Chapter Forty Three

Emma's gaze remained fixed on the wall clock adorning the ornate fireplace, its antique hands ticking away each passing moment. The delicate lace curtains filtering the soft glow of the setting sun, casting a warm hue over the room. It was a little past 6pm, and Emma found herself caught in a dilemma between her two commitments.

She stood by the window, her sight wavering between the crimson sky outside and the vibrant red gown laid out on the bed. The gown boasted a plunging neckline and daring high slit, radiating an alluring energy. Yet, a nagging thought lingered at the back of her mind - who could this mysterious person be and how did they know her whereabouts, not to mention her dress and shoe size?
