Chapter One Hundred& Forty Nine

Emma blinked once, twice, willing the mark on Davina's arm to disappear. It stubbornly remained. She squared her shoulders, hands planted firmly on her hips as realization dawned on her, her gaze piercing through Davina. "What are you doing here? Why are you here?" Her voice was sharp, demanding an answer.

Davina sat up slowly, confusion etched on her face as she tried to meet Emma's intense stare. Her fingers fidgeted with the edge of her shirt, a telltale sign of her unease. "I don't understand what you're talking about," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. She shuffled back, trying to put some distance between herself and Emma's accusing presence.

Emma's eyes narrowed. "You know exactly what I'm talking about," she said, her voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "That's why I'm asking you, nicely, why you're here."

"I'm waiting for Lucas?" Davina said questioningly and Emma scoffed.

"It makes a lot of sense now. Daddy's perfect pet, doing his dirty work for him, isn't it?"
