As I watched them leave hand in hand, a streak of envy flashed right through me. It was evident that love existed between them, but I could not help but think of how we would look much better together.

I switched off the television and walked to my study with the intention of drowning myself in my work. I knew that there was not much to be done today, but still, I walked.

I stood by the huge window and watched as their cab skid out of the compound. I turned back and sat on my chair, thoughts of her lingering in my mind endlessly. The previous night’s events had painted Terrence in the negative limelight as he turned out to be needy and out of control.

His pointless chatter had pissed Charlotte off and I could not help but think that that was the reason for Charlotte’s previous facial look. She seemed unhappy to an extent and the malicious part of me leaped in joy as I hoped that she would reconsider getting married to a man who could not contain his alcohol.
