He had just entered their floor when he noticed hushed conversations among the people there. His two assistants greeted him and carried his belongings, but nobody else seemed to acknowledge him. Passing by a group of women, he overheard their chatter.

"Maybe that Marie is just the boss's mistress, that's why she got promoted."

"Yeah, I've been here forever, and I'm still just a clerk."

"Sir could have chosen one of us as his secretary. He really had to find someone else."

"I heard that Leandro, the guy, used to be a flower vendor. What does he know about this job? Looks like he didn't even finish elementary."

"You are all fired!" Monte shouted, startling the women.

"S... sir," they stammered.

"I don't want to see you here, except you, Miss Garcia! The rest of you, you can leave!"

"On what grounds, sir, and why are you dismissing us?" one of them boldly asked.
