The trip to the sister branch was quite a long one due to the traffic, as well as the wait and process of getting everyone under the same roof at the same time. On top of that, security had to make sure that everything was in place, while at the same time, the receptionists set up the reception desk as a podium.
The building was exactly that, a sister branch; it shared the same name, played a similar role, but differed in structure and design in comparison to the main branch. It was twenty storeys less than the main building, with aluminum glass covering the entire building from top to bottom, in all sides, with the light giving it a transparent sky blue colour.
The interior was furnished with metallic silver office equipment, with occupational laws and regulations on the notice boards. Typical of Alastair Cooper, he was not exactly a fan of repeating himself when it came to rules and discipline.
"Parker, who's Namhla?"Logan groaned as Antonina barged into his office. It had not even been an hour since he last saw her, and she was already in his office, asking about Thuso's wife."Couldn't you wait for another hour or two before invading my space, lady? And what happened to knocking?" He asked in a mock annoyance voice, to which she rolled her eyes and smiled."Don't be so full of yourself." She took a seat across him. "And one other thing, I know a bit of Sotho, and I could have sworn I heard Mosetsana's kids call her aunt."Logan laughed and shook his head, his eyes set on the screen in front of him. "I hope you didn't ask her if she was Namhla.""No," Antonina dragged with a grin."But you almost did?" He shook his head and placed his papers aside before turning his attention to her. "Thuso i
"Are you okay?" Sandra asked as she walked into MJ's office. They had just returned from Alastair's building, and MJ was not the same after spending two hours in his office.By the time she came out, she wouldn't look anyone in the eyes, and Sandra could have sworn she saw a bit of red there. She was quiet throughout the entire drive back to her office, and before they left, she ordered that she didn't want anyone going to Alastair's office.Sandra knew what MJ was going through, she was experiencing the same thing every time she went back to Alastair's home, which he left to her. She felt the same pain every time she entered his bedroom to be engulfed by his scent, and every time she moved or touched something, it felt like that familiar smell would fade away like he did.The same thing with his office, it smelled of him and everything in it spoke of him a
Sirens echoed throughout the city as police vehicles and ambulances rushed to La Café.Logan could not keep up with the gathering crowds. His heart beat palpitated as he ran towards the café, and the scene that played out before his eyes was in every way unpleasant. The sun shone and reflected on the broken glass shards outside what used to be the perfect view of La Café. That on its own was enough to make Logan believe that no one in that café survived, because the whole front was covered in glass only."No." He breathed, his feet coming to a stop in front of the café. This felt worse than the time MJ went missing, it was too real and yet so surreal like nothing he had ever seen before.Bodies were scattered everywhere in and outside the café, and there was blood splattered across the floor. The shooters had obviously sh
Cameron did not know how to approach MJ after she lashed out at Sandra. He wanted her to eat something, but could not ask her out to dinner or tell her it was time to go home; since she did not want to go to dinner, he brought the dinner to her."What are you doing?" She asked as he started to remove all the documents out of her reach. Now she speaks, he thought, consciously rolling his eyes. She had pretended not to hear or see him when he asked her to stop working for a second and eat.He closed her laptop and put it aside, and then he set the desk into a makeshift dinner table. "Dinner is served," he said, finishing up the last touch by placing a serviette in front of her."Which restaurant is still open at this time?" She asked as he put the paper bag on the side.Cameron took a seat opposite her and opened his takeaway container. "
When Cameron volunteered and signed up to be MJ's temporary PA and Secretary, he had no idea that part of his job description was to play detective by day."Relax, will you!" MJ spoke through her teeth, pulling him to her side before throwing a sweet smile at the real estate agent. "Honey, this house is huge, don't you think?" She said in a sickly, sweet voice that somehow went well with her fake personality. She was wearing a short red leather skirt, a black blouse, a leopard print leather jacket, knee-length brown leather boots, a silver-blond wig topped up with a red hat; and to finish off her look, she wore thick, brown shades and a red lipstick. To spice up her alias, she was chewing a gum, blowing out a bubble after every two minutes; one of the things Cameron hated about this role-play, especially the chewing.Him on the other hand was dressed in a full, b
He was becoming too familiar with hospitals, and every time he stepped into one it was to make sure that somebody else was alright. With the way things were going, very soon people would be waiting in his place, wondering how he was.The doctors were still checking up on Antonina, while he waited outside with Zoe who insisted on interrogating Antonina even after they reviewed the footage, which showed that Antonina was just about to leave the cellar when the shooting went off.Apparently she had to make sure that Antonina's story corresponded to what was shown in the footage. What bothered Logan now was that the police had absolutely no lead at all and couldn't even identify the shooters because they were masked.Logan knew this was not just a random attack, they wanted to kill Antonina, and since they couldn't complete the job, t
"Boss, shouldn't we call Mrs Mendoza?" Javier's driver asked as he watched his employer bleed out in the backseat of his car.Javier grunted, this must have been the hundredth time he was asking a stupid question. "No, let her spend some time with her family," he breathed heavily as he pressed his palms into his stomach to stop the gush of blood from his stab wound."Sir, are you sure you don't want to go to a hospital?" The driver stuttered.Javier shut his eyes in frustration. "I already told you that no hospitals, and definitely no police. Just shut up and let me think," he gritted. He breathed out and closed his eyes as he let the darkness of the night engulf him, feeling serene grace in the silent and soulless night. It was not the first time he was on the edge of death, but it was the first time he was left with a stupid and
"I'm sorry, maybe we got off the wrong foot," MJ said in a welcoming voice. She was even surprised herself that she felt rather calm after meeting with Javier Mendoza. It was nerve-wrecking at first to think that she was going face to face with one of the world's most notorious drug lord and arms dealer. She was aware of his existence, but she preferred to stay clear of the Mexicans throughout the years; living on the run was just not her style.Javier Mendoza was bad news. He was probably the worst man she had ever met, but their meeting today proved that no man was necessarily untouchable. He was deceitful and vengeful, but somewhere deep down, she knew he had a weakness – his heart. There was more to him than what met the eye, but she had more time to get to know his skeletons. For now, her main priority was to get her company back up and running so that she could attend to the mo
