CHAPTER FIVE

“I swear to you Jane, he really did. It's so confusing, you know. One minute he's cool, the next minute, he's a pain in the ass”

Jane stared at his picture again and bit her lower lip “he is very hot though” Angela rolled her eyes

“That's really not the point”

“Seriously Angie, what if he likes you? Rumor has it that he’s never been in a relationship”

Angela burst into laughter

“Yeah right. I bet he's so crazy about me, you know, that’s probably why he yells at me and embarrass me at any little chance he gets. By the way, I’m not surprised about him not ever having a relationship, who would date a guy like that? His manners are disgusting”

“He took you to his HOUSE! Don’t you get it? This guy never brings anybody to his house except his family, not even his close friends”

Angela shrugged “he probably felt bad about what he said and wanted to make up for it”

“I bet you, you would end up falling for him. It’ll be like those workplace romance” Jane said as she was already imagining it in her head

“You read way too much fiction. This is real life darling, nothing like that happens in real life”

Jane shrugged and continued scrolling through his pictures until she came accross one of him and a beautiful blonde. She squinted her eyes a bit and then slapped her forehead as if something just dawned on her.

“What’s that?” Angela asked from where she laid on the bed typing on her phone, she had to plan tomorrow for Tristan and email it to him before twelve a.m and it was already 11:50pm

“It’s this picture of him with this supermodel, what’s her name? Oh yeah Ivy Rose, they’ve been friends since they were little. Their parents are….”

“Jane, don’t you have something better to do than looking up my boss’s life and details online?”

“It’s not my fault your boss happens to be famous”

“I’ve been thinking, how can someone who owns a furniture and interior decorating company be so famous that he's on G****e?”

Jane stared at Angela like she had gone insane “are you being serious right now?”

Angela looked up from her phone “what?”

“You do know he doesn't just own a furniture and interior decorating company right?”

“What else does he own?” Angela asked in disbelief

“Seriously? He's your boss and you don't know that his interior decorating company is the best in the whole of Canada? You don't know that he has the most successful real estate agency? And you don't know he owns half of his father's oil company? And I'm certain you don't know that he became known as the youngest billionaire at the age of eighteen”

Angela's mouth hung open “are you kidding me? He's so young. I was wondering how come he owns a limo. I guess his success and fame at such a young age would explain his bloated ego”

“He also owns this fancy store, what's the name? Yeah, grandiosa y hermosa”

At the mention of that name, Angela froze and for the first time that night, she put her phone down and turned fully to look at Jane

“Are you joking?”

“I'm not”

Angela trailed off as she remembered how she had said “you walk around arrogantly and act like you own the place” so he did own the place. Jane watched her expression change and asked what the matter was

“Oh nothing” Angela shrugged it off halfheartedly. She hadn’t told Jane about the incident that happened at the store because she was too mortified. She only told her about the interview.

“You know you’re a terrible liar right? So tell me, what’s wrong?” Angela sighed before replying

“You know that day before the interview? I met Tristan at that store and that’s kinda how I landed in this situation”

Jane adjusted her hair, she was fond of doing that whenever she wanted to listen to a gossip

“How? Explain”

And Angela did explain everything, when she was done, Jane had her palm over her mouth and she looked like she was ready to cry.

“Oh Angie, I’m so sorry about that.” She proceeded to hug her “I’m so sorry. Are you okay?”

“Yeah” Angela sniffed “yeah I’m fine. Thanks”

____________

Tristan sent her a bouquet of flowers, chocolates and a teddy bear the next day with a card written: get well soon. Tristan

Angela was genuinely surprised and happy at the same time. She received a text from him immediately ‘I hope you got my little present. Wishing you quick recovery’

His behavior confused her but she sent him a thank you text

**********

Angela met Ivy on her fourth day of working with Tristan. She came in looking way too saucy and arrogant. Ivy was an incredible beauty, she was really slender and tall with waist length blonde hair, she walked with an over exaggerated catwalk and she kept her hands in the air like a spoilt brat, dragging her words at the end of every sentence.

She came in and just walked past Angela’s desk like she didn’t see anyone. Angela had to get up and step in her way before she acknowledged her presence. She removed her dark sunglasses and looked Angela over from top to bottom

“No autographs!” She yelled curtly

“Um….excuse me? Who are you and why would I want your autograph?”

Ivy scoffed and flipped her hair “yeah right. Just get out of MY way!” She pushed Angela to the side but Angela caught up with her again

“Who the hell are you?” Ivy screamed in her face

“You can’t just barge in here, do you have an appointment?”

“Appointment? What appointment? I don’t need an appointment. For the last time, WHO ARE YOU?” She yelled

“Excuse me miss but you’re being too loud, I’m gonna have to ask you to leave if you don’t lower your voice”

“Lower my voice? This is Tristan’s office, how dare you tell me to lower my voice?”

“I’m sorry ma’am but I’m Mr Perry’s assistant and he’s in a meeting right now so yeah, you have to lower your voice”

Ivy looked Angela over again “so you’re the assistant? Well guess what? Today’s your last day of working here. As soon as I talk to Tristan, you’re getting FIRED!” She screamed but Angela remained unfazed

“Oh really?” She asked sarcastically

“You know what, I don’t like your attitude. I’m gonna call Tristan right now and he’s gonna tell me to fire you, you’ll see”

Angela stared at her with a small smirk on her face as she watched her dial Tristan’s number. The phone on Angela’s desk began to ring

“Oh, excuse me, I think Mr Perry has a call”

She walked to her desk and picked Tristan’s phone then glanced at the caller Id

“Oh” she said mockingly “you’re Ivy” then she hung up and turned to face an angry Ivy

“Mr Perry’s in a meeting right now but he’ll get back to you once he’s done”

Ivy looked livid “why the fuck are you with Tristan’s phone?!” She screamed

“Miss, you’re really gonna have to lower your voice. You’re creating a scene. Why don’t you just calm down, take a sit and once Mr Perry is done, you can have him fire me”

Ivy glared at her long and hard and then reluctantly took her seat, crossing her arms and fuming as she did so. And boy did she talk, she threatened and threatened Angela but Angela paid no attention to her

“You'll see, I'll have you and your smart mouth kicked out of this office in disgrace. Do you think you can disrespect me and go scot-free? You thought wrong. Tristan would not accept this….”

Angela's POV

Ivy blabbed on and on but I just shut her out and continued with the work ahead of me. What is wrong with these rich people? They're so snobby and rude. I let my mind wander back to two days ago when I came in to work.

__________

The look on Tristan’s face was unmoved as always when I came in two days ago. He was getting ready to leave his office when I came in “Miss Cameron, you didn't tell me you'll be resuming today,” he said frostily and I sighed

I don't know why I always have high expectations for this man, he's just a roller coaster of emotions

“I thought I'd surprise you”

“I HATE surprises!” he snapped back

“Noted sir. No more surprises again”

“Are you sure?” he asked moving way too close and staring intently into my eyes. I coughed and backed away a bit

“I don't understand sir”

He nodded knowingly and said “never mind. It's good you're here. Today's gonna be a very busy day which means it'll be a perfect day to make you very miserable” he smirked and I rolled my eyes

“Let's go,” he said and we left. Tristan did make my life very miserable that day. I was on my feet for five hours straight, I had to adjust his entire calendar because apparently some plans just popped up, I had to sort out lots of paperwork, receive lots of calls and make a lot of calls all under specific time frame and when I didn't keep to the time frame or made a mistake, Tristan yelled at me and made me start all over.

By the end of the day, which was by past eleven pm, I was exhausted and hated Tristan the more
