Chapter 19 - The chase

Sally POV

My lungs were burning and my heart pounded in my chest when we raced down the street. My eyes darted around trying to find a way for us to hide. There was no way we could outrun him forever. Two starving Rogues against a strong Beta. I didn't like our odds.

We turned right and ran along another street, still zigzagging between people on the sidewalk. Cars honked at us when we crossed a street.

I glanced over my shoulder and saw Beta Rafe running behind us. My heart sank when I realized that he was catching up.

Elijah pulled me into an alley and entered the parking lot of a mall. We ran in between the cars and I caught a glimpse of something in the corner of my eye. I turned my head and saw two people running along the edge of the parking lot.

They were trying to cut us off.

I opened my mouth to warn Elijah, but he came to a halt and pulled me to himself. Two people were running in front of us and I realized that we were surrounded.

“I won’t let them hurt you.” Elijah w
