Chapter 26: Familiar Faces

I immediately pushed Enzo away when I heard the door open.

“Mom?” Enzo exclaimed, making my eyes widen in surprise.

Mom? Out of all the people that would catch us in such proximity, it’s his mom.

“Oh, goodness. I must have interrupted something intimate,” she chuckled.

I immediately bowed my head and apologized.

“I’m deeply sorry, queen.”

I thought she was going to reprimand me for even going near her son, but I was surprised when she suddenly held onto my shoulders and lifted my head up.

“There’s no need to apologize, honey. My son is still single. He can do what he wants.”

“Oh, we’re not together,” I explained.

“Really?” she said, quite disappointed. “I was sure that something is going on between the two of you based on how close you were just now.”

I blushed and shook my head. “I’m really sorry, ma’am. I didn’t mean to be so close to your son.”

I heard his mom click his tongue. “Such a shame, then,” she said. “I already like you better than the original candidate.”
