Chapter 152 | Could've Had It All

The sound of thunder wakes me up. I touch the side of the bed and notice Silas’s side is cold. He must’ve left me a while ago.

As I sit up my eyebrows furrow, why would he leave without saying goodbye? Especially when we know how dangerous this battle may be. 

I mind link him: Silas?

He doesn’t respond and it causes the hair on the back of my neck to stand up. I try the link again and say: It's fine if you're busy. Just let me know you're still okay.

No response and I groan as my stomach twists in knots. This isn't normal for Silas. I get out of my bed and slip on a pair of shoes before leaving my room. As I enter the hallway, I listen out for anything. The sound of someone else’s heartbeat or their footsteps.

I breathe out, feeling uneasy as I hear nothing.
