Chapter Fifteen

The warehouse was quiet, and I swallowed hard as I stared at Lex's body on the floor.

It was clear that there was no backing out of this mission anymore, and I had to finish the rest of the names on the list.

Suddenly, my ringtone broke the silence, and I gazed away from Lex, took my phone out of my pocket, and stared at the screen.

Immediately, my heart skipped a beat, and I felt a tightness in my throat as I stared at Atlas' name blinking on my phone screen.

Then I cleared my throat and answered the call, striving not to stare at Lex as I said, "What's up?"

"I'm just checking to see how things are going with you and your friend." Altas' voice echoed into my ear, and a sense of guilt caused me to pause.

It sucks to have such a feeling, and I felt like I was getting soft which was something I couldn't afford to be since the mission just started to become serious.

"Aria," Atlas' voice flowed into my ear like a gentle whisper.
