Lake pressed his palm against Ezrah’s forehead, expecting to feel warmth, but it turned out cold. “I thought you had a fever, but you seem fine to me. I saw Zora only on your wedding day, but I doubt she’s the one there.” He thought Ezrah had gotten over Zora, but it did not seem so. Lake wondered what about Michelle got Ezrah so worked up. His behavior tonight was abnormal, but Ezrah was not one to cause a scene. It would be absurd for his matter to be on the lips of the media. The more Ezrah saw Michelle, the stronger his conviction grew. Her hand gestures, smile, dentition, and so on. This was a woman he shared the same bed with for three good years, so how could he not recognize her? Or was it her ghost? “You said it yourself that there was something fishy about the accident,” Ezrah reminded Lake. Lake was losing his patience as he saw another celebrity about to take Michelle and Coco’s place. “Can we discuss this later? There is limited time for this.” Irritation settled in hi
Michelle panicked slightly but remained calm. She did not mind that her identity would be revealed, but it was not supposed to happen on the red carpet, and not when she had been unable to kidnap Piper as she wanted. As much as she wanted to admit it and flaunt it in his face, she remained focused on her objective for tonight. She was about to free herself when Rush quickly came through for her. His gaze was apologetic, as he was not supposed to allow anyone near Michelle without her approval. Who knew that being on her left side, Ezrah, would snatch her from the right? Rush had no idea who he was and with what audacity he got close to her but that bravery was what felt like a threat to him. “Get your hands off her,” Rush said seriously, about to peel Ezrah’s hand, but Ezrah was quick to shove him away. He was getting violent for reasons Michelle could not pinpoint. Never in her life had she seen him like this but remained indifferent. “Back off, you don’t know her history,” Ezrah
Madison froze momentarily before forcing a sweet smile to mask her anxiety. “Sir, I think we should take you to the hospital. Michelle is as pretty as your late wife, but I don’t think they are the same.” She intentionally used the term ‘late wife’ to remind him that Zora was deceased. “You might just be missing Zora so much that you see her in Michelle.” Ezrah was dissatisfied but did not refute the accusation, and neither did he accept it, choosing silence instead. “Lake, come and drink with me.” Lake glanced in Michelle’s direction, but his focus was on finding Coco. Regrettably, she had followed Michelle. Disappointment streaked his tone. “Alright, I will come and drink with you, but what about your woman?” He glanced at Piper. Ezrah was so distant from his fiancé without realizing it, making it questionable. The tremor was the way Piper was so well behaved. She did not want anything to cause her to lose her engagement ring. Hence, she could only stomach everything Ezrah did w
Rush recalled the conversation Michelle had earlier with her parents. So, this must be the man they were talking about. All he knew about Michelle was her marriage and divorce from Sebastian. Now, he felt there was a lot about Michelle he knew nothing about.Curious to get a hint, his raised hand dropped, and he held back a little. Michelle was greatly angered. She was here for Piper, not ready to allow Ezrah to get in her way.“Who are you? I think I’ve tolerated your madness enough. If your wife is missing, then go find her. I have no idea who you are.” With all her strength, she shoved him on the chest, but he was as rigid as a mountain, grabbing hold of the door before she sat in the car.Rush could not watch any longer, as no other information was being released. It could be a case of mistaken identity, or either or both parties were hiding something.“Leave her alone,” Rush pushed him violently. Ezrah shoved him back with force, but Michelle had already seized the opportunity to
Michelle’s mood was dampened by the time she reached the venue for the party. She used a private elevator to the changing room with Rush, coming out in a sexy bikini, as it was a pool party.A light dimmed in her eyes in response to the video she was watching on her phone, sent by Madison. Ezrah’s behavior was so strange to her that she began to wonder what was happening to him.A bitter smile curled the corner of her lips. He must have found out she was the CEO of the MRAB Group and wanted to see her because of the Henshaws. Yes, he must be doing it for Piper. The only time she would be ready to give him an audience was on Monday as she had specified. Rush had heard enough and asked, “Is he your husband?”Michelle’s expression turned cold as she retorted, “Do I look married to you?” Ezrah’s words in the video showed he was, but if Michelle was denying
Piper was completely warmed by all the attention she received, going on to explain the details of her past relationship. “My boyfriend and I had not broken up when I began the long-distance relationship. He found out and threatened to go viral with the information if I refused to spend the night with him. That was why I never attended the party.” A guilty expression registered on her face, and Michelle felt internally depressed. Now she understood what happened during her chance meeting with Ezrah after crushing on him for so long. That night, Ezrah was there for Piper. To hear more, she maintained her smile and comforted Piper. This was her only chance to get information, as Ezrah would not keep her identity hidden when he finds out. “You don’t have to feel bad about it. Love makes people do many unimaginable things.” Piper felt bad to receive Michelle’s sympathy for something that was her fault. If only she had broken up with her boyfriend the moment she decided to be with Ezrah
Piper could never forget the richness of that voice and the pet name he gave her. Did it mean that he was out of a coma? Sebastian’s father had informed her that according to the doctors, the chances of his recovery were very slim. “Seb?” “Yeah, Sunshine, where are you? I’ve been looking for you for over two years now,” a desperate voice met her ears from the end of the line. It was confirmed. It was indeed her Seb. What happens now? If he finds her, then what would she tell Ezrah? She did not want to lose him. Feeling scared, she ended the call and switched off the phone. “I have to go,” she said to Michelle, rising to her feet and dashing towards the changing room. Michelle’s teeth gritted together, not having gotten the main thing she wanted. She was just close to making her confess how she paid the man to cause the accident. The first thing that crossed Michelle’s mind was to kidnap and force the rest of the words out of her, but her fans were around. Besides, that would make
“Oh shit. I’m not in the mood to argue. You can go. I will drive myself to a hotel.” Madison was ready to sleep anywhere but here. Not when Phanuel was there to disturb her peaceful life. She knew that Michelle wouldn’t mind that she borrowed her car. Rush was eager to gain Madison’s trust since she equally worked for Ezrah. That, he discovered during their feud on the red carpet when Madison introduced herself to Michelle. Come to think of it, Madison’s pretense of not knowing Michelle only left a lot to be desired. “If you don’t want him here, I can escort you to your room, and you lock your door before I go,” he said seriously. “If he continues to harass you in the morning, just call the cops on him.” Dealing with a man like Phanuel was not a problem like Ezrah. Madison took the bait. This was her apartment, and she could not desert it because of Phanuel. “Thank you for that.” As soon as Madison stepped out of the car, Phanuel approached her. “Madison, we have to talk.” “Stay
