Darien realised in that moment how naive he had been the entire time. Zach might be banned from dating over the course of their contract right now, but when the contracted time period was up, Zach could pick a boyfriend freely.

Zach would reject the new editor now, but when the year was up, he might say yes to a date with him and he would be forced to watch Zach date someone else.

From what he had seen in the lobby his romantic rival could make Zach smile despite just knowing him for one day. It had taken Zach a while to warm up to him. He didn’t have a chance against a friendly and open person.

“Mr Harper?” Becca asked.

Darien blinked and knew he had visibly zoned out whilst talking to her. He had to pull himself together.

“I will leave it to your judgement,” he said smoothly. “We don’t frown on relationships here, but if things get out of hand, you will need to talk to the person in question.”
