The Feisty Type

A beep coming from a remote car lock could be heard from where they are. There were other people in the parking lot already. But the owner of the luxury car was not planning to let her go off the hook that easily.

He stood there like he was an oversized cat cornering his tiny mouse. His rich green eyes narrowed as he scrutinized his prey.

The lady in front of her has an ordinary height with an ordinary figure wearing an ordinary office uniform.

However, her fiery red hair and defiant gaze were declaring otherwise. She is not a typical kind of woman. Somehow, Gabriel couldn’t take his eyes off her.

“This is a Lamborghini Sian which is worth 3,000 times the average monthly wage,” he said in a composed manner as he continued to observe how she would react, “So that would be - Wait, how are you planning to pay me when you were just laid off?”

The lady’s long eyelashes fluttered rapidly as her eyes bulged wide in response. She must have been surprised that he had heard everything from the top.

However, they quickly returned to that hostile look as she crossed her arms together.

“Even if I was laid off, I still have savings,” her sweet smile was contrary to the scornful way she delivered the statement, “And even if they weren’t enough, I will make sure I will pay for the damage in full, sir.”

The wind blew against his coat and tousled parts of his well-kept hair. It somehow managed to calm down Gabriel’s nerves.

“That’s good to know because I thought - Wait, did I really hear that correctly?” Gabriel then pulled up his phone and played his recorded video.

A corner of his lips curled up as he heard the part where she said, ‘This scratch isn’t even enough for all the damages they caused their employees’ lives. Oh well, he must have deserved this. This is my last day anyway, so I will just leave it as it is.’

"Because, if this is true, we could talk about this with the police," a sly smile crept up in his cheeks.

With that, he witnessed her petite face transformed from being hard and indignant to being abashed and mortified.

He expected her to kneel down in front of him and ask for his mercy, especially with her situation. But she did not.

“Well, what I said is true,” she answered him in a low-pitched voice as she formed her hands into a steeple, “It is just out of charity that I changed my mind, and now I’m planning to pay you, up to the last penny.”

His feet felt the heat rising from the asphalt and seeping through his shoe soles. But he didn’t care. The heat coming from his own body was way hotter than it was.

“I caused damage to my employee’s lives? And my car deserved to be wrecked because of that?” Gabriel seethed through a clenched jaw, “What do you even know?”

He drew in a deep breath as he gazed at her red wavy locks rippling across her feminine shoulders.

‘She is a woman.’ Gabriel reassured himself as he let loose of his clenched fist. ‘An attractive, fanciable woman.’ He added on as he could see she has a beautiful figure beneath her tight-fitting office wear.

Having an idea, his lips curved up in a devilish smile. He put both of his arms on her car’s hood, trapping her inside.

‘She even smells nice,’ he thought to himself as her hair slid to her back because of his sudden gesture, revealing her creamy neck.

“And how are you going to pay me,” he asked her as his face drew near hers, “my pretty little mouse?”

He tilted her chin with his finger, so he could take a good look at her lovely features.

Somehow, he thought that she was somehow pleased that he found her appealing. Who wouldn’t be? It was many of the women that he knew were dying for. They were the ones who always made the first move.

However, just like his first impression on her, she was not an ordinary woman. In fact, she was the feisty type.

She didn’t seem to be intimidated by his advances, nor was elated by his affections. Instead, she put her slender arms on his broad shoulders.

“Don’t worry, sir. I will certainly pay you,” she said with a wicked smile on her face, “with this!”

With all force, she was about to hit his balls with her knee. Luckily, he has good reflexes and was alert enough to block it with his other leg.

“What are you just doing?” in an instant, he moved away from her. He continued to step backward, still in shock that he almost became infertile in one split second because of this woman.

He growled, “Do you even know who I am?” As he did so, a car honked behind him. It was just passing by and almost crashed with Gabriel.

Fortunately, the woman who almost kicked his shin reached out to him. “Watch it, sir!”

In a flash of lightning, she pulled his hand towards her direction, making him almost stumble over her.

“Oh!” her lips blurted out as she was about to fall. But Gabriel’s hand flew to her back to catch her from falling.

The car who seemed to be in a hurry was able to pass them by without even touching his coat. The lady’s pull was forceful enough to get him out of an accident.

But it was also powerful enough to put him back to his previous proximity with her.

Only this time, they were even closer as he could feel her fast heartbeat with his chest. Her arms were also circling around him. And his on hers.

Somehow, it felt good to be in someone’s arms after he almost lost his life. However, he recalled what put him in that position to start with. And he would not forgive her for that.

They must have realized the awkwardness of their situation that they both pulled out of each other’s embrace.

“I will sue that man.” he muttered in between breaths as he tried to assess the plate number of the car who almost hit him.

But deep inside, he was really wondering whether he would thank her for saving his life. Or he would stick on being angry for having the guts to hurt him in the first place.

He took a quick look at her. She was dusting off her uniform while mumbling to herself.

Just then, the phone in his alarm rang, signaling that he was already late for his appointment.

‘We could settle this next time.’ he thought while looking at his watch.

He decided to act like his usual self. After fixing his hair and his coat, he faced the redhead lady in front of her.

With an aloof demeanor, he put out his palm as if he was asking for her business card. Fortunately, she immediately gave it to him.

“And I will sue you as well, if you won’t pay up,” he hissed, “Wait for my call, Miss Evina Chen.”

Then he turned his back and walked towards the Sapphire Co. building with a cold shoulder, leaving her stunned.

No one can really use the word "all" in describing a flaw in a man or a woman.

People are different.
