Chapter Thirteen 3. Hunter
"What is happening?" Sally cried out as the two sisters shifted suddenly. Hunter kept a hand tight to her shoulder.
He would be lying if he said he didn't expect this, he had thought they'd have more time before the Elders had stepped in, but it made sense. If he was in the boardroom it would have been the perfect strategy. Celeste's strength was heightened by the Clan's support and faith. When it was shaky her bond to them was loose. And as her sister with the support of the Elders, Luna could press that further.
"It's all right, little human, your mate has a handle on this."
Sally looked over at him then, actually turning to face him with her head cocking to the side. Her hazel eyes shadowing, the spark of green intensifying. "I can tell when you lie to me, Hunter."

"Thank you," Hunter said quietly in the dim car. He couldn't be sure how long ago Sally had drifted off, but it had been a while. They had fallen into silence, and while Yuki and Tyler had settled comfortably, he knew neither were asleep. Her body ached in a way she had never felt before. The hollow feeling seemed to pull at all her joints and tendons, dragging her down, holding her still.
