Ethan was unable to get the image that played out of his head, of the manner in which Ava and Jace were so close to one another at the party. As much as he tried to see just the friendship he thought they had, he could feel like they had more than that going on between them. And it made him so uncomfortable.

His mother had called him so many times to inform him that his ex-wife was now a successful designer, and wanted him to know that she had finally told his father. She talked nonstop about how pissed and mad she was that a filthy girl like Ava could fake her death and stress all of them out. It ended up angering Ethan to hear his mother talk about Ava like that, and refused to pick up her calls subsequently.

He didn't know why, but the more he thought of Ava, the more he couldn't feel alright within his body like something was missing. Believing that she died years ago had been so hard for him to accept, and he knew he had to get her back now that she was back.
