While his family carried on about their lives, trying not to let Chris Sanders ruin the time they had, Dan obsessed over finding him. It was a good thing. At least his family was as carefree as they were to go about their day, scared shitless, but determined not to allow their uncle to torment them. It was admirable, but not Dan. They shouldn’t have to worry anyway, not when he was on the case. Dan’s determination for revenge outweighed anything else on the agenda.

His first move was to go back to the Sweet Sweepers. He thought long and hard about the things that the police wouldn’t be able to figure out. The other way to cutting a man’s pride is through his money. Gerald was supplying Chris money, for sure. But any smart man wouldn’t just rely on the investment alone.

Dan put himself in Chris’s shoes. He got out of jail desperate for money, used Gerald's hate against him to manipulate Gerald into h
