Mr. Taiye Jackson sits in the front seat of the conference hall at the Benson Group, where they are meeting with the various boards of members who work under him in his other companies, all of which are registered in his name.
He whispered softly into his personal assistant's ear, "Introduce the new head to them now." They are sitting in the meeting hall, waiting to meet with the newly appointed CEO, whose name has been announced, but none of the employees have seen him yet. Mr. Taiye Jackson is the former CEO, and his late father, Mr. Benjamin Jackson, founded the Benson Group of Companies, also known as the Benjamin and Sons Group of Companies. They sit and wait to see how Mr. Taiye's only son, Liam Jackson, will handle the new company ownership. Liam is rumored to be cold and unfilial, and the workers know that once he resumes his position as the new CEO, they will be dealt with, as some have heard of him as arrogant, mean, and unappreciative, but he is very hardworking and runs some of the private businesses he runs in the states before his father finally announced his retirement plan to him, asking him to return to his country to run his multimillion-dollar businesses. Liam initially refused because he did not want to return to his home country of Nigeria, where he does not seem to find anything interesting, except for his mother, who is a god-fearing Christian mother who dresses holy and never misses church to pray for her husband and him, as he is her only child. Liam was supposed to understand that his mother had a lot of marital problems at the start of her marriage with his father, because his grandfather, Mr. Benjamin Jackson, had refused to let his son, Mr. Taiye, marry his mother, Mrs. Juliet. But, because his father adores his mother, even though women flocked to him, attempting to seduce him and calling his mother barren, he insisted on marrying only his mother, Mrs. Juliet, and having no other extramarital affairs. Mr. Taiye remained loyal to his wife, Mrs. Juliet Jackson, despite his family's refusal and the fact that she was unable to bear him another child, even after ten years of Liam's birth. Liam's mother had many miscarriages, and he knew it was because she was so worried about his father leaving her and marrying another woman that she lost all of the babies she had carried in her womb, except for him, who is only 30 years old, while his mother is 60 and his father is 68. Liam still loves his parents, but his father had duped him into believing he was sick, even arranging for a fake doctor to call him and inform him of his father's illness, pleading with him to return home from the United States. Liam was so irritated that he returned to his homeland and found his father healthy, moving around, and even attending business class meetings. Laim is furious because his father duped him into returning and then refused to allow him to return to the United States. The Benson group of companies' headquarters houses oil manufacturing products, gas implants, steel production, and other basic amenities, as their company is well-known all over the world. Liam is in one of the second-floor private rooms, adjusting his neck tie while wearing long white sleeves and black plain trousers, with his black suit on the table. His father had talked to him about introducing him to the various boards of members and partners who run their businesses. Liam exhales deeply and finally picks up his suit to wear. Just then, his assistant, Brown Anderson, whom his father assigned to him on his first day at the company, knocks on the private room door, and he says, "Come inside." "Boss, it is time for the introduction to begin," Brown says to Liam, and he nods and puts on his black suit properly. Just as Liam walks out, his father's assistant greets the other prominent men and women in the large meeting hall, saying, "Welcome, Master Liam Jackson, New CEO of Benson Group of Companies Limited." The hall immediately applauds Liam as he steps into the front and climbs onto the podium, his father sitting in the front seat, while his assistant, Mr. Silas Greystone, hands him the microphone to deliver a few speeches to their staff. "Thank you all for accepting our invitation and witnessing my appointment as the new CEO of Bennson Group. Well, I would like us to maintain our integrity and work tirelessly to propel our company to a much brighter recognition of transparency and guaranteed products. Thank you all for joining me on this new journey. "Thank you," Liam returns the microphone to Mr. Silas and steps down from the podium, and the round of applause grows as he walks to take his seat, while a few top heads immediately stand up to shake hands with him as he approaches to sit in the seat designated for him. Liam shakes hands with them before sitting, and they return to their seats, while his father, Mr. Taiye Jackson, smiles faintly at him and stands up to deliver his own speech before Silas' final closing speech. "Thank you all for accepting my invitation and witnessing this new beginning with our new CEO, none other than my son Liam Jackson. I appreciate all of our previous employees who have worked extremely hard to elevate our company's reputation and create a sense of transparency that we are one of the best production companies in Nigeria. "I would like you all, both old and new employees and retirees, to respect and work amicably with our new CEO and follow whatever decision he makes for our company to grow globally, as you can all see he is global and has recently returned from the United States to join us. Thank you all once more, Silas. I give it to you to wrap up today's meeting." Mr. Taiye returned the microphone to Silas to read out some updated information about the new products and prices. After that, Silas concluded the meeting with his closing remarks, while the invitees and employees stood up and exited the meeting hall following their meeting with their new CEO. Liam is still in the meeting hall with his father. After the number of guests and members has decreased, he stands up and walks up to his father, who is speaking with his friend, Mr. John Patrick, one of their managing accountants. "Father, I want to have a word with you," Liam tells his father, so he can finish his conversation with his friend, Mr. John Patrick, who works as one of their managing accountants and is extremely trustworthy with their company funds. "Okay, Liam. I will be with you soon," Mr. Taiye says to Liam, as Mr. John finally turns to face Liam. "Congratulations on your new position, Master Liam." Mr. John smiled at Liam. "Thank you, sir. It was an honor to meet you and work here with you all," Liam responds. "You can always count on us, Liam; your father is my boss and a very good friend, and I am delighted to see you taking over his position. I am confident you will lead us to greater success than your father and grandfather did." "Thank you, sir," Liam says, as he enjoys receiving praise from his friends, colleagues, and even elders, which motivates him to work extremely hard. "You are welcome, Liam." "Mr. Taiye will be leaving now." Mr. John turns to face Mr. Taiye and says, "My daughter will be very upset with me for not showing up at her school graduation today, even though she has called me to come with her mother to the university." "You know I could not miss your son being introduced to us as the new CEO, so I asked her mother and elder brother to attend her graduation on my behalf, and she will be very annoyed with me." "I am sorry about that, Mr. John. "I hope she understands," Mr. Taiye apologizes. "Yes, boss. She will." Mr. John nodded, a faint smile on his face, eager to leave. "How about I make up for it by introducing her to my son and possibly extending our family friendship to marriage?" "I am sure she will be happy about that," Mr. Taiye suggests, but Liam frowns immediately from where he stands. He stands beside his father, waiting for him to finish his conversation with his friend, Mr. John. "Thank you, Boss, but that is only if she accepts." Mr. John quickly rejects the offer, knowing how stubborn his daughter is and not wanting her to cause problems for him and his boss. "Why will she not accept? Liam is handsome, and every girl wants him. "What did she study at university again?" Mr. Taiye inquires, and Liam frowns deeply as his gaze shifts from his father to Mr. John. Women do not interest him, and Liam dislikes his father's attempts to court him with a woman he has never met and doubts he will like, simply because he is friends with her father.Mr. John Patrick smiles at Mr. Taiye and tells him, "Oh, she studied business administration at the University of Nigeria." "That is fine, then. Have her send us her resume once she gets home. I am confident we have more openings for new bees like her. I will be expecting her response." "Father!" Liam cut his father's speech short as his frown deepened. "You cannot simply court me with her yet." Liam says, and his father smiles at him. "I know, son, I am only trying to compensate Mr. John Patrick for his good will and commitment to working with us for over twenty years," Mr. Taiye responds, while Mr. John only smiles faintly to Liam before bowing slightly to leave. "I am going to take my leave now, boss. Thank you, and congratulations again, Liam." Liam nodded as he heard Mr. John's final words, and he walked up with his father to the front of the meeting hall, near the exit door, and said, "I do not like what you just did, father. There are many other ways to compensate Mr. John
Anita returns home with her father and mother, who come to her school to attend her final convocation ceremony. Her mother is overjoyed, but her father maintains his usual expression as he drives them home. He is proud of her for not allowing her beauty to sink into her brain and prevent her from achieving success in life, but he is still perplexed as to why she is the prettiest of her siblings. Even though his wife does not bear him a son, Mr. Joshua is not concerned because their custom allows a woman to inherit her father's property even if she is already married to another man. Mr. Joshua sighs as he drives towards their city-based home, as the university is closer. Arriving home, he drives into their simple compound and parks, as their home is a flat with four bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and five toilets and bathrooms. Mr. Joshua Baker owns the house, which he acquired and purchased from the direct landowners. He parks his car and opens the door, while Anita and her
Mrs. Tonia smiled faintly at Anita as she allowed Glory to pass with the tray of soup in her hand. Anita walked into the kitchen without saying anything to her mother, but her face was filled with sorrow, which her mother could sense. "Anita.." Mrs. Tonia sighed and called Anita's name. "What is it, Mom?" Anita asks her mother, and walks alongside her mother. "I want you to know that your father, like the rest of your siblings, genuinely loves you and is not opposed to your success," Mrs. Tonia says to Anita, taking Anita's hand in hers. "Hmph," Anita sighed. "I understand, Mom, but I do not care. If Dad likes me, great; if not, that is fine. I will always regard him as my father, and that is all." "Anita.." "Mom, where's the fufu?!" Flora steps into the kitchen and interrupts them as she eyes Anita and walks to the kitchen cabinet to meet their mother. "Mom, why're you holding Anita's hands and talking to her? Are you begging her for something?" Flora asks their mother, and sh
Mrs. Tonia doesn't say anything after Flora exits the room, and she sighs and walks up to sit beside Anita on the bed while Favour and Esther exit the room next. "You shouldn't be harsh with your sister. Fighting with her wasn't necessary," Mrs. Tonia says to Anita, as she sits beside Anita on the bed. "I know, mom, but they disrespect me too much and are getting out of hand," Anita replies. "It's okay. I can understand, but don't change yourself because of them. Keep being my sweet and calm daughter." "Okay mom." Anita sighs as she stares at their mother, while Glory walks up to sit on the bed too. "I've got to go now and join your father. Glory, you go now and pack your bags and come join Anita here." "Okay, mom," Glory replies, and she stands up from the bed and walks out of the room, going to the room she shares with Lisa. Flora is in the room, arranging her bag of clothes, and she doesn't utter a word to Glory, who steps in and carries her own box of clothes out. Lisa sigh
Anita can't say anything again after their mother leaves them and walks back to the room to be with their father. She sighs and stares at Flora, who seems worried, and they walk back to sit on the couch. "What do you think is the problem?" Esther asks Flora, and Flora shakes her head and responds, "I don't know, but I am worried about something serious." They sit back on the couch, waiting for their father or mother to step out and talk to them. Anita sighs and finally walks back to her room, as she doesn't know what the problem is either. She believes her mother will let them know about it even though her father doesn't want to. Anita saw her father was already dressed to leave to work before receiving whatever news that made him devastated, and she prays silently in her heart, "Let it not be that my father has lost his job." Anita murmurs and walks into her room, feeling her father's screams echoing in her mind. It has something to do with his office work, and she sits on
Liam stepped into his office and took his seat on his executive office chair, swirling it sideways while glancing around. He smiled and rolled up his sleeves to begin his new day at work, leaning forward to his monitor desk and turning on his computer to check the company's records while waiting for it to finish booting. Liam tick-tocked counts the time in his office while he waited for the computer to finish booting. Just then he hears a knock, and he said, "Come in." Liam's secretary, Margaret Johnathan walks in. She was holding a file, and smiled slightly at Liam as she looked down, approaching his desk, before coming to a halt in front of his desk. "Yes, what do you want? How can I help you and what is your name again?" Liam inquired, looking up at Margaret's face. She says, " My name is Margaret Jonathan. Sir." "Okay, Miss Margaret. What do you want, and how can I help you?" Liam inquired once more, and Margaret moved forward and said, "Sir, Mr. John Patrick brought this fi
"Hello, boss," Margaret answered on the office phone. "Come into my office right away," Liam said, and Margaret gulped and jumped up from her office chair, dropping the phone line. She noticed Bambam smiling at her as she prepared to attend to the client sitting in front of her. Some clients enter Margaret's secretary office to see her, but she swiftly directs them to other staff members working on the third floor office to attend to them since she knows the new boss does not enjoy being kept waiting. Margaret stepped quickly to Liam's office door, knocked lightly on it, and heard his icy reaction. "Come in." Margaret gulped as she unlocked Liam's office door and entered his luxurious office to see him. "What took you so long to respond to my call?" Liam questioned Margaret as he continued working on his computer, his gaze remaining fixed on the monitor screen as his fingers tapped faster on the keyboard. "I'm sorry, boss, I arrived late from lunch," Margaret explained, and
Temisa is at her father's mansion because their home is a typical duplex on a government-owned estate, which her father purchased as a new home. "Father, have you submitted my CV and letter of application to the new boss?" Temisa asked her father as her father entered the living room, while she sat on the large couch, filing and brushing her long nails. Mr. John simply stares at his daughter, as instead of Temisa to stand up and greet him, she sits comfortably on the large couch, polishing her long nails and asking him questions as if he were an errand boy. "Temisa, you're quite unbelievable; not even a welcome greeting from you to your father?" Mr. John inquired Temisa as he placed his briefcase on the living room center table and gradually untied his necktie. "I'm sorry, dad. Good evening, Father. Welcome home," Temisa remarked, dropping her leg off the couch where she had previously rested it and relaxing while polishing her long nails. "Where's your mother?" Mr. John inquired
