MATT’S POV

“They took my daughter away,” Kate’s mother cried, “I can’t remember anything aside from letting them in. Do you think she’s dead?” tears rolled over, as she cleaned most.

Her room was scattered, things lay here and there. Her jewelry, clothes and dresses, papers and pictures, and a lot of other unimportant stuff but there were no traces of blood in the room.

I saw my coat safely hanging on the wall. But that wasn’t what I was looking for.

“Did they leave anything here?” I asked.

“Yes! Yes!” She scrubbed through the papers and brought out one and started to read, “Report to the police, and your daughter will be gone.” She handed it to me after she had read it.

“Where is her friend?”

“Cassandra is in school.” She said and began to touch her heart.

“Are you alright, ma?”
