Katie's POV

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. One of Alex's employees, someone who had been with us for years, had been arrested for a serious crime. The news had come in that morning, and I was still in shock.

Alex had received a call from his legal team, and he had immediately called me into his office. Lily, our 18-year-old daughter, was in college and Max, our youngest son, was at school, so it was just the two of us.

"What are we going to do?" I asked, feeling overwhelmed.

"I don't know," Alex said, running his hands through his hair. "We need to figure out what happened and what our next steps are."

Emily, our troubled teen, had been with us for a few months now, and I could see the worry in her eyes. She had been through so much in her young life, and I didn't want this to add to her trauma.
