ODEYA.
I didn't believe what dad had said, I didn't want to believe it. Is this the reason Katya hadn't come to see me in the last three weeks after Debby’s party? I asked myself as I rummage through my clothes. After finding a sunflower short dress, I put it on and then brush my hair into a bun. Dad was still in my room, hence he looked at me as I walked out of my closet.“Where are you going?” He asked, standing up.“Don’t worry, Dad. I'll be back soon,” I told him before grabbing my car key off the table. Entering my car, and driving off to her house, my mind became occupied with thoughts.I had told Katya about Herald and me. She knows how much I adored him and how I am waiting for him to come back to me hence I am wondering why and how she became his new Queen. That should be me.Soon, I reached the foyer of her house and then I got out of my car. I saw another car parked next to where I parked mine but I didn't mind and just went in.Getting into her house, it reeked of cigarettes and alcohol like usual. However, I still managed to go to her room.To my surprise, I saw Katya sitting on the bed with lots of designer bags lined on her small bed. Katya doesn't have money for all these, I thought looking at them.“Odeya, you are here,” I heard her voice as I was lost staring at the designer products.“Yes.” I looked at her with a crooked smile.“Will you be my bridesmaid?” She asked, a small smile playing on her face.“What happened? You didn't come to see me after Debby’s party and now I heard you would be coronated as the lastest Queen of Alpha Herald. What happened?” I asked, my eyes fixated on her.Katya smiled and then moved close to me.“Uhm, how should I tell you this?” She asked, a sly expression on her face. I had never seen my best friend look at me like that and it terrified me. My heart beat faster and faster because I didn't know what was going to come out of her mouth.“Remember that night you didn't come to the forest clearing because of your parent's anniversary, I went...” She paused and looked at me before continuing,“and he came.”“Who came?” I asked immediately, confused. No, I wasn't confused, I was in denial. It could never be him, right?“Herald, he came back for that little girl. At first, I was terrified, he was the vicious Alpha everyone talked about. However, when he came to me and wrapped his hands around my waist, I knew he could never be brutal to that little girl that stole his heart.” She raised her head and looked at me with a dry smile.“I love him, Odeya. Leave him for me. You know, he didn't remember your name, he could only remember the last syllable - ya. Funny enough both our names ends with - Ya. Leave him to me, Odeya and I won't hurt you.” She smiled at me.I looked at my best friend with widened eyes. My entire body froze and shook as I looked at her. It was the same girl I had spent more than half of my life with that betrayed me like this? They say betrayal hurts but no one talked about the veto that's comes with it. You would wonder where you got it wrong. You would try to make excuse for that person that hurt you because a part of you is still yet to believe that this person would do such thing.I and Katya had eaten in the same plate, bath together and slept together, how can I believe this betrayal.“You are lying?” I asked, smiling but tears fell out my eyes. I was breaking on the inside.I was feeling dizziness in different waves. Her eyes looking straight at me with a crooked smile was adding to the pain, my best friend used to look at me with such loving smile.“You have everything, you think you can have Herald as well? Remember when I was in your closet? I took the special sword he gave you because he asked if I kept it all these time.” She smiled again breaking me finally. The last strength I had was smashed by her indifference attitude. I broke to the floor unable to hold myself again, I saw fractions of her as my eyes closed gently.Katya, you are my best friend and I love you so much. How can I take this betrayal? How?*The next moment I opened my eyes I found that I was in the hospital. Beside me sat my mom, and dad, her head rested against my dad’s chest while he wrapped his hands around her back, gently caressing her there. It showed that he was awake.“Dad,” I called gently, sitting up.Almost immediately, Dad opened his eyes. I could see the panic in his eyes but he was careful enough not to wake Mom.“Baby,” he called and I gently smiled although my inside was burning in an inferno. And just then, before Daddy could say anything else, my mom flung her eyes open. She moved closer to me and held my hand while tears grew in her eyes.I looked at my dad to know what had happened but he also had a sad expression on his face. What happened, I wanted to know.“What should we do now, Odeya? You are our only daughter, we can't watch you die.” Mom cried scaring me more.“Who said I was going to die? Who wants to kill me?!” I asked, looking between the both of them hoping they’d tell me what was going on. My heart whacked faster in my ribcage, it felt like I was going to explode because of the suspense. Is it Katya again? What did she do this time?!Dad told me Katya had reported to the Alpha that a woman was pregnant out of wedlock, the disciplinary committee had ordered for that woman to be stoned to death for committing debauchery. The woman was me. Fortunately for us, one of dad’s loyal man was there and he heard them, he quickly informed my dad about it. Mom sobbed holding my hand while I stared into the air wondering the level of betrayal Katya was going to stop at. There was another rule against women in the pack, we are not allowed to get pregnant by any man that's not our mate, it was counted as a sin. The disciplinary committee would decide the person’s judgment, I guess mine was to be stoned to death. Mom told me to leave immediately. They added that I couldn't take my phone along and we couldn't contact each other because the disciplinary committee would hack into our phone’s network and listen to every conversation. With tears in my eyes, I left my mom and dad. Aside from that, Mom and Dad would be watched from now
ODEYA. I left the poop on my clothes and then went back to the cracked wall, I placed the foil tape over it and cared less if the poop continued to burst out of it and stained my hands. It was useless to cry now, this was my situation and I needed to get used to it. After countless foil tapes, I was able to block the poop from seeping out. Sighing, I washed my hands and went back to a seat at the corner and then watched the rain fall in each bucket. There was no window in the room hence I only had the water from the roof to watch. I was bored out of my mind but it was fine, as long as my baby would be saved. When Lydia came back, I told her about the creaked wall and how it was affecting me. She looked at me with a face of disdain and told me I should choose between food for the next three months and the repair. She reminded me that none of my family could contact her because of the rules in the pack hence they couldn't send her money for me. She had told me to keep my mouth shut
ODEYA I felt humiliated. My family was one of the most influential people in the pack but look at me, and see where I found myself. “What is going on here?!” I heard a rough voice behind me and then a familiar scent hit me. Gently, I turned my head to the direction. Standing behind the kids was Claire, my mother figure. I met Claire one time when she came to see the condition of the Janitor’s closet. I heard she was the new sponsorer of the school which was ironic. No one ever wants to invest in the commoner's school. When Claire saw me with my babies, she felt bad for us and our living conditions hence she promised she was going to take care of us. I hadn't seen her since then until now. Although I never saw her, I thought of her as a mother. The way she talked and cared for me was exactly like that of my mother. “Pack your bags, you are coming with me.” She uttered while I was wiping my body with the water she made the students bring to me. Claire was able to dismiss the kids
ODEYAGetting to the room, I saw my three babies on the marble floor, with blood coming out their mouths. Hysterically, I ran to them and fell beside them; shaking them and their faces. “Wake up, Savanna... Austin, wake up!” I called their names but they kept vomiting blood. “Call the ambulance, now!” I screamed at those behind me just watching me. “Please, wake up, babies!” I cried, still slapping their faces. A few minutes later, the ambulance came and took my children to the hospital. I sat by their side on the small bus, watching the nurse fix something on their faces. Tears grew in my eyes and my entire body shook. They have never been sick, they were always hale and hearty hence seeing them in this condition was scary. “Are they going to be okay?” My voice broke as I asked the question. * * * Two days later, my babies were better. Claire often came with their favorite foods since I couldn't leave them to prepare them good food. Claire was nothing but a blessing to me, I d
ODEYAIt was as though I was glued to the floor, coupled with the hardness of pulling my face away from them. Thankfully, I wasn't noticed by them. Alpha Arden and my ex-best friend walked past me without noticing me which was a good thing. Getting myself, I felt something roll down the corner of my eyes. They were tears, and I was quick to wipe them off before they got any further. There was no reason to cry over spilled beans especially now that I have three reasons to be happy every day. To wake up and move on. I went to the location where I had a meeting with my client. It was a restaurant on neutral ground like Claire’s house and company, this was because Claire didn't want to have any bond with the pack that had once betrayed her. All businesses on neutral grounds are accessible to all wolves and there was no centralized government. On getting in, I found out there was no more table except the VIP golden villa and they had only one of its kind which was worth a whooping ten th
HERALD “You are weak!” A punch to my knee and the sound of my bones crushing became the next sound. I groaned, breathing out heavily while taking the pain in. Father didn't wait for the bones to go back into their place, he gave another hard punch, saying, “How can you be my successor with your weak traits just like your fucking mother!” He grunted as his hand came in contact with my skin, crushing my bone again. This time, my bones came out of my skin and blood ran down my leg. “Damn it, fuck!” I groaned, biting down on my lower lips to stop myself from showing weakness. Still, it hurt. It hurt so much still, the man that birthed me didn't care. I was tied up - my hands- with a rope to the ceiling of the cell. My body weight was killing me, my wrist was hurting, tingling from the rope. It hurt badly. So badly. “Stop, Teran, stop! Please, he is our son. Stop hurting him!” Mom begged behind the cage doors, stretching her hands through the open space of the gate. Her cries, screams,
ODEYAClaire succeeded in talking me to go back to Darkjade pack with my children. In the cab, the kids asked me numerous questions that I didn't have answers to. “Mom, where are we going?” “Mom, are we going to see one of your clients?” “Mom, what does debenture mean? I heard you talking about it the other time on the phone.” Savannah asked me, she was the inquisitive one. However, I didn't answer her but looked out the window with my heart beating so fast. “Mommy, are you feeling anxious again? Your heart is beating fast.” Savannah asked, coming closer to me. I turned to her and smiled, pulling my hands into her golden locks. She was so beautiful, her blue eyes looked like a cloudy sky - the most beautiful cloudy sky. “Savannah, Mommy is thinking right now. Can you hold your questions until tomorrow?” I asked, smiling. Just before Savannah was able to reply, Scarlett knelt and pulled her hence they both fell on the chair. Austin who was minding his business got affected and he
ODEYA “Herald, this is hard for me to say but I think I have been nice and patient enough. Order the head guard, Marco to take her and her children to the dungeon. She should not leave here without getting punished!”There was silence in the room. I was thinking to myself what I did to deserve a friend like Katya. Sighing I looked away with a scornful laugh. “We are not going to do that,” Herald uttered, his eyes fixed on me. Katya looked at him with a distasteful facial expression, angry that the Alpha had gone against her wish. “Let me see your proof,” Herald uttered, his eyes still on me. I shouldn't be thinking of our past together but every time he opens his mouth or set those blue magnificent eyes on me, it was all I thought about. Without saying anything I stretched the tape to one of the guards beside Herald who passed it to Herald himself. On the other hand, Katya was fuming badly. However, I didn't mind her at all. The guard played the tape to Herald, and I explained ho
