My hands were shaking as I held the torn pictures when I heard the door unlock. My heart almost flew out of my chest and I moved as fast as I could to stand. Thinking of the worst-case scenario, I braced myself but then I perceived my mate’s scent and my shoulders relaxed. With the tension leaving my body, I felt like I could faint from the relief.
