The run with Layla went very well. Only the after that had been bad. As soon as we were in human form, she acted strangely. Layla had been dismissive and barely looked at me.

A step forward followed by another step backwards. The whole thing was frustrating.

Xander answered, "So? Whose fault is it?" "I realize that. That question was unnecessary." He growled, which I gladly returned.

I knew it was my fault. But I couldn't change the past, no matter how much I wanted to. At least Layla had stopped trying to reject me. Not that I would let it go, but it still hurts and it hurts a lot.

I was now sitting behind my desk in the office. Actually, I would have enough work, but I wasn't concentrating. I was concerned about Layla. All day she was on my mind.

Xander asked, "How about we strike up a conversation? You can't work in that state anyway." As if I hadn't had this idea myself long ago.
