When he got there Kat was standing outside in the sun looking back at the front entrance while Vlad was standing just inside with the door only slightly ajar, squinting out at her. His car was in the driveway behind Kat. She turned and opened the back door of the car then turned back and leaned on the side of the car and closed her eyes, tucking her chin, lowering her head.

The shadows up under the eaves of the front of the house slowly crept out further and further into the drive way like a black flood they seemed to consume everything in their path until they reached Kat’s feet. The shadows suddenly coalesced becoming like thick syrup and formed walls and a roof creating a tunnel of blackness from the front door to the car door.

Kat opened her eyes which were glowing with an intense green light and grinned. Folding her arms smugly and crossing her feet.
